Living Creatures
The living beings of Galath were, for the most part, born from the Divinity of the Foundational and Second Order Divinities.
The First Order of Life
The living beings of the First Order were created alongside the world's shape by the Fundamental and Foundational Divinities, and were themselves divine. Many of the simpler forms of this type surrendered their divinity and immortality to fuel the creation of the Second Order. The Second Order of Life
Life proliferated across Galath under the stewardship of the Second Order Divinities, who created the natural processes of life and death, birth and growth and decay.- Oozes have only the barest properties of life in their original form, which is amorphous and unthinking. Over time, however, oozes can develop specialised organs, specific forms and even emergent intelligence.
- Plants are defined by the material of their form, but a number of Galathan plants are mobile and sentient, and even sapient, especially those that grow in the Primeval Wilderness.
- Beasts are natural animals with a limited intelligence. They are broadly categorised as beasts of the water, beasts of the air, herbivores of the land, and predators of the land.
The Third Order of Life
The Third Order were mostly created by the Foundational Divinities in response to the hubris of the Second Order, and represent the pinnacle of Galathian life.- Sympatics are bipedal animals with high intelligence. Because of their intelligence and a quality of their god-created nature, they have the ability to create pacts with Gods, a key factor in the creation of civilised states.
- Sea People are the intelligent denizens of the waters, similar to sympatics, but often having tails instead of legs. They are also capable of forming pacts with the gods who watch over their watery domains.
- Fae are denizens of the border planes, and seem to have been created - by divine act or through some sort of autonomous cosmological reaction - as a mirror of the material lineages.
Gauthics
Gauthic Creatures are artificial lifeforms, created through magic or alchemy, rather than an act of divinity. They are subdivided into:- Gauthic Oozes are simple lifeforms either invested with elemental power or gifted with unusual intelligence or drive.
- Gauthic Plants are either transmuted to produce some pharmacological or alchemical effect, or imbued with animation and intelligence.
- Gauthic Beasts are animals that are magically altered to be in some way unnatural. Some combine physical traits of two or more creatures, while others possess magical abilities or remarkable intelligence.
- Constructs are built from component materials. Golems and homonculi are the most common examples.
- True Gauthics, or Sympatic Gauthics, are like monsters, but with the form and intelligence of a sympatic. Being the products of non-divine creation, however, they cannot make pacts with gods.
