Gauthic Oozes
Oozes are the simplest form of life on Galath, and many arcanists with designs on Gauthic creation use them as an initial canvas. The results of these experiments rarely have a great deal of utility, but they are tough and extremely hardy, able to occupy the most out of the way places. As a result, many gauthic oozes find an ecological niche in the lower levels of dungeons.
Gauthic oozes have a more coherent form than natural moulds and slimes. Known as jellies or puddings, they are capable of deliberate, instinctive motion and are often highly corrosive. One of the most popular jellies is the gelatinous cube, a common dissertation piece for first year gauthians, commonly used for waste disposal in ducts.
Significantly more sophisticated, mimics have a level of awareness and the ability to not only assume a coherent physical form, but to reshape that form into facsimiles of other objects or creatures. Simple mimics use this ability to hunt on an instinctive level, but the ultimate goal of these experiments is often to fuse or awaken a conscious mind within the ooze. These intelligent mimics are known as oblices, and they are capable for forming and communicating through puppet forms in the shapes of other animals. An oblex grows constantly as long as it continues to be fed, and can grow large enough to fill a substantial chamber while maintaining three or more human-sized puppets. Some oblices are also able to spawn lesser oozes to act as servitors.
