Thatos

New Ascension God of the Inferno. Ascensded with the Rouzhai Gaiostone by killing Wyrmking during the Gigadragonomy. The destabilizing antimatter chaos he imbued within his killing strike reverberated throughout the Wyrmking & his kin, permanently splitting the Vulcan Dragon race into two separate species: Flame & Terra Dragons.

Thatos is the Dakian God of War in the world of Gaion. He is the second born son of Denothis, the God of Death, and ascended from an orc in the ancient orc clans. Discovering his power at an early age, he used it and his followers to conquer all the orcs in Orsania and create the kingdom of Volsemar. Throughout many more conquests and adventures, he ascended his mortality to become Gaion's God of War, and would serve as a driving contributor and mastermind to Divine War and Perniam War, respectively.

Biography

Early Life

Thatos was born sometime before 300 BD to Denothis and a Rouzhai Orc woman living in one of the ancient clans. Not much is known about his childhood, but ancient carvings in the orc society he lived in depict that he was raised by his mother alone and that she died while he was young. Losing someone close to him so early in his life gave him insatiable anger, causing him to unlock his Dakian powers. At this age, he also discovered his Rouzhai powers. Thatos quickly took to fighting and became the strongest warrior in his clan, drawing power from hatred, anger, and bloodlust. Over time, his Rouzhai powers grew in tune with his insatiable desire to fight, making him the most powerful Rouzhai in the world. The orcs from his clan followed him with pride and loyalty, and together they conquered the other orc clans in Orsania. Thatos named this unified territory Volsemar, and crowned himself the Blood King.

Thatos built an army that consists of orcs from all clans, monsters, Rouzhai creatures, and Molten Dragons. With this army, he began travelling the world, spreading warfare and chaos wherever he went. During his travels, he learned about Neviros and that like Neviros, he himself was a son of Denothis and ascended his mortality to become a god. Fascinated, he attacked nearby Dark Elf nomads to learn how he accomplished this, learning that he used the Blaidrin Gaiostone to combine its power with Dakian magic. Knowing that a Gaiostone probably existed for his aura as well, he began his search for the Rouzhai Gaiostone.

Ascension

Thatos searched for the stone by focusing in on where Rouzhai energy felt strongest. This led him to Mt. Vigr in Volsemar, which emitted strong waves of Gaioforce radiation. He concluded that the stone must be deep within the volcano and dug through the mountain with his weapons, Rouzhai Fire, and bare hands, sifting through rocks and magma alike. Despite the pain and destruction to his armor and body, Thatos fought through it with his divine heritage and indominable will, and eventually dug deep enough to a level that felt as hard as bedrock. Knowing the stone must be within, Thatos used his remaining weapons and powers to break through the nearly unbreakable layer, destroying his signature axe in the process. Finally, he unearthed the Rouzhai Gaiostone, becoming the first mortal being to lay eyes on it and feel the pure radiation of its power.

Taking no time to rest, Thatos grasped the stone firmly in his hands, allowing its power to burn through him. While the pain was immeasurable, he did not relent, even as his body decayed from the inside. He activated his Dakian magic to sustain him, all while channelling his Rouzhai powers as well. Eventually, the powers collided within him and created Rouzhai Bloodfire; a unique source of Dakian magic that is fueled by warfare, violence, and strong emotions of anger, hatred, and pain. With this new power flowing within him, Thatos became invulnerable to the stone’s destructive nature and gained complete control of its power, having officially ascended his mortal form and become the newest of the Dakian Gods.

The Elder God War

At some point after his ascension, Thatos went to Dakia and met his father. It was here that he forged his sword, Rouzhai's Fang, creating the sword with Dakatrite and the Rouzhai Gaiostone. After leaving Dakia, Thatos led his army to conquer much of the world north of Orsania, coming into direct conflict with Solternia and slaughtering many of its people. Thatos would destroy entire cities and swathes of land with a single smash from his sword, and by the end was responsible for the most destruction of Solternia from any other nation. While Crysegnor made no moves against Volsemar, Hythereous and the Grettanian Army moved through Solternian lands to meet Thatos and the Bloodfire Army on the battlefield. Both armies faced off against each other in a spectacular battle, with great casualties to both sides. Thatos and Hythereous fought evenly and destructively, leaving no trace of the original battlefield. After months of fighting, Thatos eventually killed Hythereous with Rouzhai's Fang and allowed the remaining Grettanian troops to retreat (which would coincidentally put them in position to invade city later on).

However, Thatos' victory was short-lived. Auvori, sensing the death of his son and having recently learned of Serega's consciousness, invaded Prophius' library and released Serega on the condition that he destroy Thatos (this action sparked the final battle between the Elder Gods). Serega confronted Thatos, who had won another battle weakening Solternia's southern territories. The two fought in a magnificent duel, both displaying powerful Gaioforce and Dakian powers. In the end, Serega's innate mastery of the Gaioforce allowed him to immobilize and wound Thatos, but not before Thatos severely wounded the Elder God with his sword. Seeing his ultimate destruction at the hands of his own power, Serega used his remaining strength to detonate a god bomb, the same technique used by Prophius to destroy his brothers. This explosion destroyed Serega's consciousness for good, Thatos's physical form, and a significant portion of the Bloodfire Army.

Attributes

Appearance

An armor-clad demon with a flowing black cape. He has two horns and red glowing eyes, but the rest of his face is generally covered by his helmet depending on which armor he wears. During the Elder God War, he tamed one of his father's undead Goultani Dragon and named it Drainoth, then corrupted it with his Bloodfire magic. As such, Drainoth became the first Bloodfire Dragon. He often rode this dragon into battle and even fought from its back.

Thatos Writing Notes

Ancient Lore

after the ascension of the gods near the end of the Gigadragonomy, each deity was invited to their father’s realm of existence. They each claimed territory and domain over the prime sentence of sad territory, even meeting with them to create God children of their own

General

•channel the father-son relationship into Thatos & Viko reminscient of your relationship with dad

•use your childhood experiences to paint their backstory together (Viko’s childhood with him after his mother abandoned him), and your current experiences to paint the modern day story together

Thatos’ Story canon

•At the end of the Divine War, T’Nar did not kill or directly imprison Thatos or Hytheron. Instead, he uses his unchallenged temporal power to revert their bodies back to their pre-ascension mortal forms. This reverted them to their demigod strength, speed, durability, stamina & Gaioforce powers, but retained their divine intelligence, memory & immortal longevity (cannot die of old age, but can be killed or injured by a powerful opponent).

•After the process was complete, T’Nar threw both gods & their weapons to separate parts of Gaion:

1. Thatos to South Vulsemar, Land of the Dragons

2. Hytheron to North Vulsemar, Land of the Giants

3. Bloodbaine (Rouzhai Gaiostone) to the middle of the Sanhi Desert in Dalterra, which Solternian refugees escaping/wishing to avoid the Siege of Dahlaeyir discovered. They built the Sun Elf city-state of Banatar around it and gained an innate connection to its power, becoming the first Rouzhai Sun Elves.

4. sword (Goultani Gaiostone) to the top of a mountain range in Western Hythenos. Later discovered by the Dwarves, who used its power to forge their mountaintop kingdoms and advanced technology

•Thatos initially reacts with rage to his circumstances, but eventually pleasures himself with the opportunity to start his rise to power again, with all the bloodshed he could ever want against the dragons and their subservient reptile societies.

Perniam War

•While the mortal realm is engulfed in global warfare, Thatos enjoys the power granted to him from these actions

•Instead of fighting in it himself, he first travels to the Thugoran Chaos and reconquers the realm for himself, deposing and killing any Demon Lords (his children) who do not swear fealty.

•Once conquered, he utilizes his vast resources to begin work on an interstellar warship. He sends various squads of demons across the dimensional borders into Hytheria, often dealing with Daedrius for passage in exchange for other favors for the Vampire Lord. With this help, Thatos acquires several celestial artifacts from the mysterious mountain valleys of Hytheria, reverse engineering any space craft discovered to further his own plans

•By the time of Season 3’s climax, Thatos has used his resources to assemble a fleet of interstellar warships and organized a Demonic Army, ready to leave Gaion behind and spread his chaos to the stars/other worlds. Still reeling from the destruction and death he caused on Gaion, it becomes Viko & Kiara’s goal to stop him from leaving the planet and bringing pain & chaos to any other world. Garen, on the other hand, sees an opportunity with his war fleet, and wishes to kill Thatos and take command of the fleet himself

Powers and Abilities

Divine Strength: Thatos is one of the physically strongest gods on Gaion, surpassed only by Vulca. He is so strong that his punches can generate shockwaves on impact with a person or object, which can ripple through and destroy the environment around him. With all his strength, he was able to crumble an entire mountain with an aerial, two-handed smash, then use Bloodfire to launch the loose boulders like a trebuchet.

• Divine Invulnerability: Thatos is also extremely durable due to his divine nature and combat physique. He can withstand blows that would kill or completely destroy anything else, such as being crushed by mountain-sized boulders or vaporized by a full-blast of the Goultani Gaiostone. This physique made it extremely difficult for anyone to fight him, with the most powerful Seregans in the world struggling to harm him.

• Divine Speed, Reflexes, & Stamina: Thatos is extremely fast, both in running and combat speeds. He can launch attacks at a ridiculous rate and is imperceptible to the eye at his maximum speed. He can also block/dodge attacks in a fraction of a second from perceiving it. Lastly, as a god his stamina is nearly inexhaustible, able to fights for months (or even years) without tiring when powered by Bloodfire Magic.

• Mastery of the Rouzhai Aura: Thatos is the most powerful master of the Rouzhai Aura in history.

• Mastery of Bloodfire: Thatos is a pure manifestation and unrivaled master Bloodfire. As such, he has telumkinesis, telekinetic command over any and all weapons and armor, and can craft them out of thin air or teleport them from anywhere in the world. His telumkinesis is nearly limitless in its potency. He can create mass amounts of weapons simultaneously to use or launch at opponents, such as arrows or flaming catapult rocks. He can even conjure entire armies of puppet soldiers that are completely under his control. Thatos also has the ability to control other aspects of battle, such as commanding other combatants to fight for him or sparking conflicts everywhere he goes. Thatos is also capable of utilizing Bloodfire to augment his physical and Rouzhai power as well.

  • Agony Vision: Beams of Thugora energy shot from his eyes. This energy specifically draws from the pain and suffering of those who fight and die in battle, transferring this pain to the victim of the beams. Thatos prefers to use this when torturing his opponents, rather than killing them outright.

• Master Combatant: Thatos is the greatest fighter in the history of Gaion, having studied and practiced every form of combat in the world. He has combined all the world’s fighting styles (both armed and unarmed) to create his own unique, universal, and unmatchable style. His extreme strength gives his attacks devastating power and his speed makes him extremely difficult to counter if he is not going easy on his opponent. His fighting ability is his greatest weapon, allowing him to hold his own against any being on Gaion, including gods, and he is even capable of defeating most of them. While the other gods’ weapon masteries can outmatch some of his (such as Akana’s mastery over her trident), he is by far the best swordfighter on Gaion.

Weapons and Armor

Thatos’s main suit of armor is crafted from Dakatrite and Dragon Scales, making it one of the strongest suits in the world. It is made up of scale plates for the chest, abdomen, back, arms, and legs, held together by an interior base. It has spiky Dakatrite pauldrons, gauntlets, and boots that can easily kill/injure opponents upon contact. The suit is topped with a menacing, spiked helmet with two horns protruding from the side, an eye slit, and a perpendicular slit that goes down to the bottom of the helmet, leaving it open. To finish it off, the suit bears a long black cape. Together, this suit makes Thatos look like an extremely powerful and intimidating warrior, leaving most opponents terrified to fight him.

Thatos has many weapons at his disposal, which he crafts and keeps in a secret armory hidden in the Battlefield. Only he knows where it is, and can telekinetically teleport his weapons from there at will. All of his weapons and armor were crafted himself for a personalized feel, so he has become a master blacksmith. His arsenal includes Dakatrite and non-Dakatrite weapons.

  • Rouzhai's Fang : Thatos’s signature weapon. Strongly infused with Bloodfire magic upon its creation, the sword draws strength from the blood of its victims. It also contains the Rouzhai Gaiostone imbued deep in the hilt, capable of channeling the stones full potential without breaking or inhibiting it.
  • Dakatrite Battle Axe: A commonly used weapon by Thatos. This axe is long enough to be wielded with two hands, but Thatos can wield it with one by holding it just above the center. It has a razor sharp 1 ½ foot long blade on one side, and a four foot long curved shaft. His signature attack with this weapon is spinning it rapidly and either telekinetically moving it around the battlefield or charging at opponents and slicing right through them. He often dual wields this axe with his sword.
  • Dakatrite Warhammer: Thatos’s favorite bludgeoning weapon. The head has a circular face but a flat surface, which tapers off into a long spike in the back of the hammer. The shaft is about 5 feet long. As it is made of solid Dakatrite, the hammer weighs several tons, almost as much as Thatos’s armor, so few can actually wield it other than himself. This weapon can crush even the strongest of armors and bones, kill most beings upon impact, and generate shockwaves. Thatos is capable of drawing massive amounts of Bloodfire to the head and slamming it into the ground, creating an explosion as strong as a nuclear bomb.
  • Dragon Spear: This weapon has a six-foot long dragonbone shaft and a foot long dragontooth head, all from the first Molten Dragon that he slayed. Thatos uses it for multiple forms of spear fighting, and commonly throws it at opponents while riding his dragon. He also throws it while on the ground for ranged attacks, as he can call it back instantly. While primarily a stabbing weapon, he occasionally hits opponents with the sides, but also uses both ends of the spear for impaling. In addition to masterful spear attacks, he also has a technique called the Spear Kick, where he slams it into the ground and vaults at the opponent in a high jump kick, allowing his upper body strength to factor into the power.
  • Dakatrite Shield: Thatos’s signature shield. It is octagon-shaped and made of Dakatrite, making it the strongest shiled on Gaion. In the center is a design of a quadrigore, a fearsome, 4-horned, and 4-legged species that lives in Dakia and is known for its fatal charges. This shield was enchanted by Thatos himself to be completely unbreakable, and has lived up to that reputation so far. While he often uses it defensively to block attacks, he also uses it as a weapon. He charges opponents with it or slams them with the face of the shield, the impact of which can create explosion-sized shockwaves. He also uses the razor-sharp sides to slice through opponents or even throw it like a disk. While not a weapon, Thatos often pairs it with his other weapons for battlefield effectiveness.
  • Bow: Thatos’s signature bow. The shaft was crafted from a Shadewood and the bowstring is made of hair from history’s most dangerous Emnascurine Bull, an animal known for its extremely violent temper. While it can fire normal arrows, Thatos enchanted this bow so that it would not need any. When he pulls the bowstring, a red plasma forms in the shape of an arrow, which can either act as an extremely strong arrow or one that generates a powerful explosion upon impact. Thatos often fires from the back of his dragon or the edge of a cliff when using this weapon.
  • Other Swords: Thatos has many other swords in his arsenal, both one-handed and pairs of dual-wielded. While he has mastered them all, he rarely uses them in combat.
  • War Axes: Other than his main battle axe, Thatos has multiple styles of war axes in his arsenal, ranging from one-handed to halberds. His most used ones are his dual-wielded, one-sided axes. He often throws them around the battlefield, but occasionally fights with them up close.
  • War Hammers and Maces: Thatos has various styles of war hammers and maces. His favorite ones are his dual-wielded sledgehammer mauls, with somewhat rectangular-shaped heads, which he uses for power-based combat. He also has various types of maces, some with long rectangular heads and others with small spherical ones.
  • Staff: Thatos has a long combat staff with blunt ends for staff fighting. While being a master, he tends to only bring it out against opponents like Akana, who specialize in the art as well.
  • Combat Chain: A long metal chain with detachable heads at the end for whatever Thatos intends to use it for. He has a spear head for a rope dart, a spiked ball for a flail-like weapon, or a balancer head for a chain whip. He can attach and switch these heads out with his telumkinesis, making it a very versatile weapon.
  • Other Miscellaneous Weapons: Being a master of all weapons, Thatos has at least one of each style of weapon in his armory, whether he uses them or not. His armory also has a blacksmith’s workshop so he can make more when he needs to.
