Drakofrys
(Drakofrys are a CA race, and may not be played without making an application.)
((Drakofrys older than 900 ages cannot be applied for without a Unique CA requiring higher standards.)) Where the Empyreans are legion, Drakofrys are few, though nonetheless they share an extremely deep kinship and bond, both for their shared horrors in the Divine Daemons wars and for their shared creation at the hands of the Powerful Celestials. Drakofrys are large, naturally armored, extremely driven and focused slayers of the enemies of order. They were created to combat demons on a far more individual basis than the Empyreans, though very frequently they would also have a large squad of the smaller Empyreans with them.
Appearance
Drakofrys look very much like the dragons they were modeled after (specifically Lacerta), being a cross between dragons and a humanoid. They tend to have flat heads, white or golden scales which glow as brightly as a torch at all times, and the same golden halo shared by all demi-celestials. They're fairly bulky and wide, looking somewhat squat despite their tall height.Body Modifications
Many Drakofrys have the insignia of their regiment carved into one of their shoulder's scales, and this carving leaves a scar, which glows a dull orange rather than the white of their normal scales. In addition, the Drakofrys proudly wear their scars, and many of them carve designs for other important events in their life into their scales.Racial Abilities
Drakofrys are by far the most mighty of the Demi-Celestials. They only need to eat (a quarter of their body weight) twice an age, they need only one breath of air every half-hour, and they sleep only two hours a night. Drakofrys feel no pity, no pain, no fear, and they absolutely do not stop until they're dead, or their opponent is. When they come across the opponents of their divine order, they cannot be bargained with, nor reasoned with, ever. The light which shines from their scales counts as sunlight, and burns in a 20 block radius, about as bright as a torch. Divine Concentration: Drakofrys, much like Empyreans, do not struggle to lift whatever they are attempting to pick up. They either can or can not. Additionally, they do not flinch from most pain unless it is particularly gruesome. Drakofrys are unmoved by weight as long as they can lift it, finding themselves unburdened of the struggle to act in armor, armor does not affect the block speed a Drakofrys can move. Burning Drive: A Drakofrys cannot refuse to attempt to purge demonkind. They do not have special means of determining demonkind, so some halfbloods may be able to hide their presence from the Drakofrys, though should they discover these, they are bound to engage them. Most Drakofrys consider those who would harbor demonkind to be equally as damned as the demons themselves, though some will seek to attempt to avoid unnecessary casualties in these situations. Some. A Drakofrys may decide to avoid combat in order to plan, but only in the case that they do not believe they are likely to be ultimately successful in the mission. No matter what, Drakofrys are unable to break the Celestial Tenets, the thought of doing such never occuring to these Demi-Celestials. Celestial Form: A Drakofrys' scales provide decent armor, about as good as iron chain armor, though the scales on their belly specifically are only about as tough as leather armor. Drakofrys can spit a line of electricity out 10 blocks in front of them hitting a singular target. This electricity is strong enough to halt someone from using their fast action upon their turn. After using this ability, roll a 1d6+2. After this many rounds has passed, you may use this ability again. Abolishment of Corruption: Similar to their Empyric kin, Drakofrys hold an innate ability to purify corruption. This ability is highly volatile in nature, completely desecrating the “purified” object or area. A drakofrys may, through this ability, purify a 10x10 area, effectively turning the area to rubble and destroying any plant life, or purify a heavily corrupted item, shattering it in the process. This may not be used upon sentient beings, only being able to be done upon nature or non-living items. This ability may be performed twice per age before the Drakofrys needs to recover. Culture
Culture and cultural heritage
The culture of the drakofrys is an extremely martial one, focused on honor, martial prowess, and strength in all things. Drakofrys typically train daily to keep themselves in top physical form, and they very frequently have friendly sparring matches, both with one another and with worthy opponents that they might meet. Drakofrys feel very little in the way of emotions, generally only feeling anything when the emotion would normally be extreme in a lesser being. The major exception to this is when a Drakofrys encounters a demonic being, whereupon they usually are nearly consumed with rage. Though they can decide to not pursue this rage, it is not easy, especially if the Drakofrys is on its own. Generally they value the lives of their Empyrean troops extremely highly, being that they are so very outnumbered by the hordes of demons, and they do not reproduce with any speed. Drakofrys feel a deep sense of camaraderie with their fellow drakofrys and Empyreans, though true love as a mortal might experience is alien to them.
All Drakofrys speak Celestial and Common.
Religion
Like the Empyreans, the Drakofrys worship the Celestials, but unlike them, they do not build monuments, or keep the words of the Celestials on their lips. Instead, they venerate the Celestials with every action, with every word, with every breath. Enforcement of the Divine Law of the Celestials is what the Drakofrys embody totally, and so while they may know the Celestials in the same way the Empyreans do, their connection is profoundly different.Family
Drakofrys are incapable of reproducing, and thus they see all other demi-celestials as their family. The only time more Drakofrys are created is when a Prodigy is born who is set to build a Celestial Incubator, and thus they are extremely rare, only gaining a few hundred new Drakofrys every century or so. For this reason, the Drakofrys, though still extremely driven to purge demonic and chaotic forces from Gaia, have recently become more reserved, in general, to keep themselves alive, in their small numbers.Common Dress code
Drakofrys typically wear only armor, or nothing at all.
Accessories
A Drakofrys almost never travels without a weapon, usually a huge mace with an empty channel in the head, to be filled with all sorts of alchemical nastiness.Common Myths and Legends
Creation Story
The VERY first Drakofrys were created first by the Celestials, in the opening age of the First Demonic Invasion, before the very first Empyreans themselves. When the Celestials created them, in the image of the Darastrii, it took them a full month to create each of them and imbue them with the fighting skill they'd need. In this time, tens of thousands of Gaians were slain, and the Celestials quickly realized that if they were to have any chance whatsoever, they would need more troops, leading to the creation of the Empyreans afterwards. They still continued making Drakofrys, as fast as they could, but they altered their training, teaching them instead to plan and lead small specialized squads of Empyrean commandos rather than fighting on their own. After the war with the horrors that sought their destruction, the "reward" that the Celestials gave to their offspring was being placed in stasis until they were needed again. After the Second Demonic Invasion, the Drakofrys were rewarded with being placed upon upon the face of Gaia. There, they stayed upon their floating island, believing it to be a divinely ordained piece of land, given to them by their creators. Some journey to a hellish swamp in Rehkara to maintain their battle skills.Major organizations
The Drakofrys have no major settlements on Anoma, and only exist in number in a specific swamp in the center of Rehkara, where the barrier between Gaia and the Demonic Steppes is weakest, and the things occasionally slip through. Occasionally Drakofrys leave this swamp, to hunt demons elsewhere in the world, and more than one have set off towards Anoma in search of demonic presences.
