R105 Kobra
Standard issue HLX assault rifle of the SGA. The R105 is just the newest revision of the Kobra line of assault rifles designed by Ares Inc.. Its production name within the company is ArK105, but due to being exclusively shipped to the SGA it is more often referred to by its military name. It is made of a lightweight aerosteel alloy and fires highly energetic hardlight bullets. Compared to other weapons of its class that fire either kinetic projectiles or plasma bolts, the Kobra delivers the high accuracy and range of a kinetic projectile with the destructive power of a plasma bolt due to the special bullet design.
The hardlight bullets are hollow shells filled with energized plasma which bursts open on impact. This means that the bullet delivers a plasma bolt without the usual downsides of being highly susceptible to weather and dispersion. Due to its hardlight shell the bullet also adopts the ballistics of kinetic projectiles, however, due to being lighter it is affected less by gravity, but more strongly by the wind. Unlike kinetic projectiles, the bullet is also faster and doesn't lose speed due to releasing energy out of its backside, causing slight propulsion at the cost of destructive power. This causes the bullet to never slow down, however, it quickly loses effectiveness over long distances and will disintegrate after some time. Being made from hardlight also gives better shield penetration compared to plasma weaponry which can be a deciding factor in battle. The rifle also comes with an integrated reflex sight and integrated 3x telescopic sight both of which can display remaining ammunition and range to the target. There is also a small display on the backside of the gun above the stock that also shows remaining ammunition which can also be rotated to be visible either from the left, right or backside. The integrated rangefinder can automatically change the zeroing distance on the optics and a light sensor adjusts the brightness of both the optics and the ammunition display.
Due to being made from lightweight aero steel alloy it only weighs 2.5kg which is considered ultra-lightweight for HLX rifles and in its standard configuration it is exactly 1000mm long with its adjustable telescopic stock fully extended.
It can be loaded with any standard rifle EC-magazine and within the SGA it is used with the standard-issue ECRF-10 magazines. With this magazine, it can fire up to 50 rounds before needing to be reloaded. It has selectable automatic, burst and single fire options. It fires at a rate of 950 rounds per minute but will reduce its fire rate all the way down to 600 rounds per minute depending on the built-up heat within the weapon. There are also different versions of the R105, adapted for different combat roles and environments.

- R105C - Compact version with a reduced barrel length and a folding stock instead of an adjustable telescopic stock. Total length is reduced to 650mm with a folded stock, 900mm with an unfolded stock.
- R105M - Marksmen version with a longer barrel and higher muzzle velocity. Total length is increased to 1075mm and ammo consumption is increased, only allowing 40 shots to be fired with the default ECRF-10 magazine. It also adds an increased digital zoom of up to 6x to the telescopic 3x sight with integrated target finder and heat vision.
- R105H - Heavy version with a heavier barrel and a built-in heat purger within the barrel shroud. It has an increased minimum fire rate of 700 rounds per minute. When used in combination with an EC backpack like the ECPF-150 it can fire up to 750 rounds.
- R105X - Special version reserved for special operations units. It is slightly smaller with a total length of 950mm with fully extended stock and features the improved sights of the marksmen version as well as the heat purger from the heavy version. It also comes with variable bullet settings that allow the user to fire freely increase the power and muzzle velocity of the fired rounds.
