Why did Lyssandra sold Kalen out?

Meeting in the Hallow Gate jail

Later Lyssandra visits Kalen in the Hollow Gate Jail . She brings little explanation other than a mention of the Black Hand - an organisation known to those who travel with trade caravans all over Forgotten Realms - and their offer. Not one that you'd want to be interested in you. But it's not the first time someone tries to recruit Kalen - he had an offer to abandon the caravan he was protecting before - he refused.

Lyssandra's offer is simple - freedom for a service to the Black Hand. Kalen tries to negotiate, wants Torren "Torr" Hallowfield to be released with him. She needs to talk to her handlers. Before she comes back with an answer - the party escapes.
