Torren "Torr" Hallowfield
The Hunter of Sablebrook
History
Born in the forest village of Sablebrook, Torr grew up the son of Dorn Harrowfield, the local blacksmith. His father dreamed of passing the forge to him, but Torr’s heart was always in the woods.
In secret, he trained with Old Varran, a retired mercenary who taught him to track, hunt, and fight. Their meeting place was a small clearing deep in the trees — a refuge where Torr also rescued and raised a young deer he named Loki.
Years later, a beast came out of the forest and terrorized the village. Several died before Torr confronted it. Loki fell in the battle, and Torr was left wounded but victorious.
Since that night, the people of Sablebrook whisper that something changed in him — that his eyes seem sharper, his moods quieter, his presence different.
His father, at last, saw the warrior within him and let him go, saying: “You’ve got the forge in your hands, boy — but the fire’s not mine anymore.”
Background
Torr’s life in the wild shaped him into a ranger attuned to the rhythm of nature.
He speaks little, listens carefully, and trusts the forest more than people.
He can calm beasts, mend wounds with surprising instinct, and sense danger long before it strikes.
To Torr, magic is a dangerous tool — useful only when it heals, never when it harms.

Current Chapter
Torr has left Sablebrook to seek understanding of what hunts and haunts the wilds.
After following false leads near Waterdeep, Torr was convinced by two hedge-wizards that the only true answer to his condition lay in Neverwinter’s Arcane Academy. Desperate, he booked passage aboard The Crescent Star.
There, he first met Harlan Deepcoin, an elven traveler whose friend was being shadowed by a cloaked stranger. When Harlan slipped away to follow, Torr—distracted by the distant flight of a dragon over the sea—crossed the deck and crashed into him, sending both sprawling. Their blunder let the cloaked figure vanish, but the accident turned into laughter, and drinks. When they parted at Neverwinter’s docks, neither man expected to meet again—certainly not behind the bars of a jail.
He now finds himself far from home — in Neverwinter, where misfortune and false accusation placed him among strangers in Hallow Gate Jail.
Whether fate or chance brought them together, the road ahead will test his resolve, his beliefs, and whatever unseen power still walks beside him.
