The Stations of Fortrop

The Iris : The command station. It houses the Council of Commanders and the central data hubs. Life is sterile and easy compared to the other stations. Watchers are present but with settings a lot more lenient.

Nexus Station and Prism Station : The elite residential stations. They contain spacious housing and private amenities for high-ranking officials, doctors and important Creation Weavers.

Basalt Station , Gaia Station , Solas Stations are the dle-class sectors. They are the functional core of the ship, containing official markets, technical workshops, and standardized housing. Life is defined by work and compliance.

Allium Station and Fabrik Station are the lower-middle class and worker districts. These stations are dense, industrial, and utilitarian, housing the skilled labor force. Life is a cycle of long work shifts.

Eir Station is the lowest-class residential station and the most populated. It is a sprawling, repurposed slum. Life is a struggle for basic resources.

Coal Station is the heart. It contains the ship's engines, recyclers, and life support systems. The environment is hazardous and loud.

The Under Deck is a high-security prison, essentially.

Station 15 is used by the Council of Commanders as a dumping ground for failed experiments, inconvenient evidence, and political enemies deemed too troublesome for the Underdeck.

Purpose / Function

The Fortrop began as a research station designed to facilitate scientific exploration and technological advancement in 2078. Its purpose was to study space phenomena and develop new technologies that could benefit humanity. Drifting aimlessly in FOC-86, that original mission is now a dead dream. Over centuries, the ship's purpose shifted from exploration to the survival of the human race under the Council of Commanders . The advanced technologies once meant for discovery are now leveraged to maintain control and sustain life. Today, the Fortrop is no longer a place for research, but the only place humanity can inhabit.

Alterations

Starting out as a single station, it gradually grew as more and more components were needed. The first stations (after the Iris), were Nexus, Fabrik, Prism, and Coal, then, as Earth's death became imminent, Gaia, Allium and Solas Stations were added.

Almost as an afterthought, Eir, Basalt, and the Under Deck were haphazardly joined to make space for more people. It wasn't good space but space nonetheless.

Architecture

The original structure was functional and utilitarian. It featured simple, efficient designs prioritising functionality over aesthetics.

As the station expanded and "normal" grey people started inhabiting the Fortrop, it incorporated a blend of brutalism and cyberpunk. A lot of the core structures remain utilitarian, with exposed concrete, metal beams, and a focus on durability and strength; mostly because it's easier and quicker to build than anything extravagant. Newer sections, particularly those related to advanced research and high-tech industries, feature cyberpunk elements. Neon lights, holographic displays, sleek metal and glass surfaces, and a pervasive presence of advanced technology.

Defenses

Advanced energy shields, providing a first line of defence against attacks and environmental hazards (especially radiation). The Fortrop also has an array of outer, defensive weaponry, including missile launchers, and railguns; though they are mainly abandoned and unmaintained as no external threat has been noted since inhabiting the station.

Inside, however, security is tight.

Extensive surveillance networks monitor all areas, ensuring constant vigilance. Cameras, motion sensors, and biometric scanners are ubiquitous. Heavily armed security personnel are stationed throughout the Fortrop, ready to respond to any internal threats. They use a combination of advanced weaponry and cybernetic enhancements to maintain order. Certain high-security zones feature automated defence systems, including turrets and robotic sentries, programmed to neutralise intruders.
