Protectors & Order Enforcers
The Guards Guild is an Empire Sanctioned Guild (a.k.a. E.S.G.) whose main function and purpose is to keep the peace through hired mercenaries. The goal of the guards guild is not to kill or even harm others, but instead they hope to ward off would be wrong-doers with their presence. Of course, if it comes to it, the members of the Guards Guild are more than capable of holding their own in a fight. People who become members of The Guards Guild must be loyal, dependable, honorable, and vigilant. Recruiters of the guild are looking for these qualities combined with proper skill in combat. They do not accept applicants whose main style of combat is spellcasting, though there can be exceptions from time to time. This is because magic is too unpredictable and has too much destructive capacity, and there is another E.S.G. that specializes in all things magic.
Divisions & Ranks
Just like most of the other E.S.G.s, there are a few divisions of the Guards Guild that serve different functions. For simplicity, all of the divisions use the same ranking system. The ranks from lowest to highest go as follows; Private, Corporal, Knight, Seargant, Captain, General. Privates are recruits and all officers start off as privates except for the General. Corporals are guards in charge of a "Party" which is about 3 to 8 guards. Knights are sworn in by royalty and are not always in charge of groups but hold authority over Corporals and Privates. They are typically the strongest fighters in The Guards Guild and those that become a Knight, usually remain one for life. The majority of Knights get recruited into the Royalguard Division with a few exceptions. Others skip from Corporal to Seargant if they are more suited for a leadership role. Seargants are in charge of a "Clutch" which is 10 to 15 Parties. Captains are in charge of an entire Division of The Guards Guild, as well as all of the knights in that Branch. There is only one General who is the acting leader of the Guards Guild, not necessarily the founder.
The Bodyguard Division
This division is in charge of all of the personal bodyguards that protect nobles and other important people, such as traveling merchants & traders. The leader of this division is a female red dragonborn named
Jopora Gheshin , a.k.a. Captain Gheshin. The Gheshin family is a long line of dragonborns who have served The Guards Guild for many generations. There are several other members of the Gheshin family currently in service, including Jopora's son, Bharashar, who is a Corporal in the bodyguard division, serving the noble family of Kimbaltuul. The people that employ the services of the bodyguard division are; members of The Order of the Hoard (merchant's guild), Nobles, thanes, & other V.I.P.s. Their job is to strictly protect their client/s with their life. They only have the authority to make temporary arrests before giving them over to the Cityguard Division. They are trained to follow the order of the three "Ps"; Perceive, Predict, Prevent.
The Cityguard Division
This division is in charge of keeping the peace in major cities and some Empire Sanctioned villages. The guards in this branch act with the authority of police officers, able to make full arrests on perceived criminals. When they do so, the perpetrator gets thrown in the local jail and if the crime is serious enough, such as grand theft, murder, or sexual assualt, they will face
Trial by Fire. Otherwise they can serve their time for misdemeanors such as petty theft, drunken brawls, or light vandilism. Those who escape jail regardless of their crime, if caught, will immediately face
Trial by Fire. The leader of this division is a male crystal dragonborn named Tomtid Dotrin, a.k.a. Captain Dotrin. Under normal circumstances they are not allowed to kill unless it's self-defense. The Guards in this division are required to be in uniform and be equiped with the proper armor and weapons when they are on duty. These guards will be found patroling the city, guarding specific entry points & doors, as well as patrolling around the outside perimiter and perched up in guard towers with ranged weaponry.
The Royalguard Division
This division is in charge of protecting royalty within their castle walls. All of the Royalguards must be of Knight Rank or higher, the bulk of Royalguards are Knights, with Seargants and Captains simply organizing and giving orders. The leader of this division is
