Umiko Cove

Umiko Cove is the current Queen of the Water Fairies, known by the title Lady Umiko. She is kindhearted and motherly, and always wants what's best for her people. She is willing to lend a hand whenever necessary, and she leaves the palace doors open for anyone in need.

Background

Umiko, born Umiko Miura, was not born into royalty. However, she still had a noble upbringing, living on the coasts of Emerriden Isle. She grew up alongside her twin sister, Pearl, who she told everything, and still does. The two would attend all the fancy social gatherings set up by other nobility and the royals, always joking about one day marrying into royalty.   But they didn't think it would turn out to be true. However, at one of these parties, Umiko would meet Caspian Cove, the young prince of the Water Royals. He was very shy, clearly not good at socializing with all the guests like he was supposed to be. Umiko, on the other hand, had no problem socializing with him! She took to chatting with him, slowly but surely bringing him out of his shell. And, the joke about one day marrying into royalty no longer felt like a joke.   A romance blossomed between the two of them, with Caspian eventually taking the initiative to propose. Umiko accepted obviously and was swept into the life of a royal and all the responsibilities that came with it. Luckily for her, and Caspian, Umiko had always been good with people, so she took to a life of caring for them very easily. Where Caspian handles all the knitty gritty serious sides of things, Umiko thrives in being the one to socialize, setting up events, and keeping track of the general welbeing of their subjects.   But one thing Umiko wanted above everything else was a family. And eventually her dream would come true with the birth of her daughter, Coral Cove (known by a different name at the time). Umiko loved Coral to bits, wanting to give her everything, and she did. She spoiled this kid to death, doting on her every need and making sure she always got what she wanted. Unfortunately, this resulted in a very spoiled child, and one who found Umiko's very presence overbearing. Despite Umiko's best efforts, the two of them never became very close.   Even though Umiko was lax, Caspian needed to be the stern one in her place. When Coral was 17, they arranged for her to marry a noble from Cyaneous Reef. Coral was clearly unhappy with this, and there was nothing Umiko could do to reassure her. She tried her best, trying to convince Coral that it might take time, that she'd learn to love Rei. It didn't work. On the day of the wedding, things exploded. An affair Coral had been having was revealed, fights broke out, and at the end of it all Coral was punished for the first time in her life.   Coral left that day. Umiko thought she'd be back not long after, but she never returned, and Umiko hasn't made contact with her since. She misses her daughter deeply, wishing things could have gone differently and feeling immense guilt for how they did go. She's left searching for her daughter, not knowing that her daughter is now her son, flaunting a new name and persona.

Personality

Umiko is incredibly generous and enjoys spoiling those who are close to her. She is the kind of person who likes to fuss over others, often taking on the role of a mother hen to ensure everyone is comfortable and well taken care of. She is a bit of a pushover, preferring to avoid any kind of conflict and turning to her husband for disciplinary matters. Overall, she is a caring and nurturing individual who values the happiness and well-being of those around her.

Appearance

Umiko is a curvy woman, on the chubbier side, and stands at an average height of 5'4. She has orange eyes and lightly tanned skin. She often wears makeup in her signature baby blue color, matching her outfits, hair, and fins, but with a pop of orange lipstick. Her light blue hair is often worn in an updo the shape of a spire shell.   With her age, she has gained some wrinkles, but most say that Umiko has aged quite gracefully. Her skin does not have many noticable blemishes, and she still carries some youthfulness about her.   Her wings have water patterns on them, also in a light blue hue. She also has webbed ears.   She is Japanese-coded, so she has Asian features and her outfits are inspired by traditional Japanese clothing. She also wears lots of pearls and other oceanic accessories.

Reign

Umiko is a very benevolent ruler. She cares deeply about all fairies, not just Water Fairies, and always wants to make sure the people are well taken care of. To her, every fairy is like her child, and they need to be spoiled just as much as she'd spoil her own. (Especially in the absence of hers). Umiko enjoys socializing with other fairies at any chance she can, and is always welcome to fairies entering her home, the palace, for any reason. (Caspian less so, but he doesn't argue with her.)   All of Umiko's policies are very lax. She wants all of her subjects to take it easy, take care of themselves, and take care of one another. She likes keeping the beaches clean and her people happy.
