The Exorsian Civil Wars
During the tail end of the Bronze Age, tensions had begun to rise between the many factions upon Exorsia, and even between the Gods themselves. Tensions that had been building for many millennia across the Planes, waiting for a spark to ignite all out war.
That spark came from within the Underdark, as Lolth, the Elven Queen of Ungol’karas, seen as a God to her people, marched her armies to Elderan, with the goal to dominate and conquer all of Exorsia. Lolth’s conquest began a domino effect, as factions across the Planes were plunged into war.
The Gods, who over the aeons had grown bitter and resentful of their relatives, unable to take out their frustrations directly, the Gods saw this mortal war as an opportunity for payback. From the Olympians to the imprisoned Dark Deities, the Gods backed their followers and empowered their champions, each striving for dominance over the other.
From the great cities of Exorsia, to dark cults of chaos, and even the armies of the Hells waged war against each other, across the planes and upon the land of Exorsia. Over a thousand years war raged across the Planes, cities rose and fell, alliances were made and broken, God fought against God.
It was during the Exorsian Civil wars when the Grey Elves of Lorth’elon rebelled against the tyrant Lolth and the Elves of the Silven Vale lost themselves to wild magics.
And as the war raged on, tensions only increased between the divinites, until the Gods could not stand by any longer and joined the fray of battle as their Divine Avatars, bringing untold devastation in their wake.
It was here when the Dark Queen Lolth made her gambit. After centuries of arcane study, and with aid from dark patrons, Lolth used Athena’s Avatar to cast forbidden magics, slaying Athena’s champion and allowing Lolth to ascend herself to Godhood.
Upon this terrible realisation, the Gods put aside their rivalries, and allied against a common foe. United, the Gods defeated Lolth and her armies, banishing and trapping her within the Shadowfell, and driving the Drow back into the Underdark.
In the aftermath, the war had left the Elven population decimated, their numbers dwindled considerably, leaving Humanity now as the dominant species on Exorsia.
