Visioning of the Prima

The Visioning was introduced following the collapse of Prima Sidonius Laen, whose corruption by a sentient spell nearly undid the Codex itself. Thereafter, Visioning was instituted to ensure the soul of the Prima could bear the weight of truth unflinching.

The rite has not changed in four centuries. Only three have ever failed — and none were remembered.

The rite begins with the Quelling of Words. The candidate is bathed in silence by the Custodians and led barefoot into the Oculus Tharaxis. There, twelve Magisters observe in utter stillness.

As Tharaxis reaches zenith, the Prima-elect kneels in the center of the radiant seals. The Sigillum Obscura is placed at their feet. At that moment, the Riftlight intensifies — and the Visioning begins.

The candidate falls into trance, their soul drawn upward into a reflection of their deepest truths. The Moon reveals not prophecy, but memory — not destiny, but potential unfulfilled. Many weep. Some scream. A few speak with voices not their own.

If the soul returns intact, the vision fades, the seals ignite, and the Magisters rise. Only then is the Rite complete.

Sigillum Obscura – Anchors the vision to the Codex’s gaze.

Rift Seals – Attuned to respond to spiritual resonance.

Tharaxis Zenith Flame – Not lit by hand; appears only if the soul is accepted.

The Candidate – Must have been confirmed by Council vote prior to the Visioning.

Magisters Arcanii – Witness and interpret the echoes of the rite.

Custodians – Guard the perimeter, enforce sacred silence.

The Visioning occurs only under the zenith of Tharaxis, and only during Obscurum. The timing must be exact, or the Rift will not open. If the moon is veiled or waning, the rite is delayed — often by years.

Candidates may only attempt it once.
