Nestled between misty hills and the winding River Chionthar, the village of Evenshade appears serene, scholarly, and timeless. Home to a modest noble house, a revered temple-library of Oghma, and a vibrant community of farmers, merchants, and travelers, Evenshade is a place where cleverness holds more sway than titles, and knowledge is the quiet heartbeat of life.
But beneath the bucolic charm lies something older.
An ancient wizard tower—long predating the village—rises from a lonely hill, avoided by most and maintained out of reverence, not understanding. Visitors remark upon it. The scholars speak little of it. The nobility do not speak of it at all.
Within the village, traditions are shifting. Merchants whisper of independence. Outsiders linger longer than they should. Forgotten truths stir beneath stone and silence. And some, like the rogue-turned-psion Rafin Evenshade, find themselves drawn back—not by duty, but by the quiet promise that something here still matters.
In Evenshade, the truth speaks quietly.
You only have to listen.

What is a "mill race"? It's a man-made channel that diverts water from a river or stream to power a watermill. Its design controls both the flow and force of the water, ensuring a steady supply regardless of seasonal rises and falls in the main river. In essence, the mill race transforms a river’s unpredictable current into reliable mechanical energy for grinding grain, sawing timber, or other village needs.
Evenshade is nestled up against The River Chionthar--surely there's at least a place to tie up, right?? Well, in fact, the Evenshade Harbor has a couple of large stone piers and is equipped to handle seasonal highs and lows in the river.
Interestingly enough, it also has a few defenses in the form of a ballista harpoon....
So where do the children go to school? Do they have to have to make the 3-mile trek to-and-from Berdusk every day? No, Evenshade is all about education, if occasionally lacking in another amenities, and so I bring you...The Riverside Lycaeum! Of course, the Lycaeum provides schooling and training for all ages, from purely academic to hands-on vocational.
