The eldest daughter of Lord Osmund and Lady Ulrika Barrecks, Elayne takes her position as heir to the holdings of the Ebrusian House Barrecks quite seriously. She is a small, pale-skinned young woman with an intense, piercing gaze and a soft voice that, despite her stature, demands the attention of those around her. Her formidable, slightly off-putting demeanor notwithstanding, Elayne tends to gather young noblemen and women to herself like a magpie hoarding shiny objects. Perhaps it is the aura of calm and determination that radiates from her like light from a lantern. Perhaps it is her striking appearance, her dark brown, almost black, hair creating a stark contrast with her pale skin and icy blue eyes. Perhaps it is the crooked smile she flashes only on occasion, often as a sign of approval or pride. Regardless, Elayne has befriended many young highborn, including the self-proclaimed "Baron of Butchery," Esbern Klump of Moglea. In fact, the Moglean halfling and Elayne were practically raised together and have been fast friends since their earliest days.

There are even rumors circulating throughout the Sweet North and the Droukari heartland that Esbern plans to marry Elayne someday. In light of the unpleasant history between the halflings of Moglea and House Barrecks, this arrangement would not only improve the Barrecks' reputation but would also align them with one of the wealthiest and powerful merchant families in the entire kingdom. The Klump Livestock Company provides Droukar with nearly a quarter of its beef, fish, pork, and poultry, after all. Sadly she is already married to Kent Markland, so this marriage can never be. It hasn't stopped people from spreading some interesting rumors though.
