Meiri

Meiri is a goddess in The Collective religion of the Dwarves. She is the deity of truth, knowledge, dreams, and prophecy. She is also the daughter of Yohanan and Zohara, and sister to Edli, Timora, and Rodica.   Contents  

Dogma

Meiri communes with her followers through omens and oracular dreams. She believes that the future has set points that are destined to happen, with connecting moments that change based on the actions of mortals. She encourages her followers to accept the truth of fate and work towards its goals, rather than against it. Truth and knowledge are also critical in her worship - most Dwarven libraries are also temples to Meiri.  

History

During the reign of the Pliscian Civilization, Meiri prophesized that one of Clan Avrum would betray the rest and sunder the race of Dwarves into two factions that would war for the rest of eternity. Distraught at the lack of unity in her visions, Yohanan cast Meiri out for a time. Taking shelter amongst the other outcasts, Meiri raised a force that would serve as a buffer against the looming threat. When Rodica revealed herself to be the betrayer, leading an army of corrupted Dwarves against Yohanan and the rest of Clan Avrum, Meiri was ready. With her followers, she drove her sister's faction deep underground, where they would become the Duergar. She was welcomed back by her father and given a position of honor in the Iterum of the Golden Mountain.   As the Pliscian Winter approached, Meiri's oracular visions grew more frequent for her followers. When the catastrophe occurred, many Dwarves were ready to follow Yohanan underneath the Harkuldir Mountains.   For all her prescience, there was no warning about the disappearance of the Third Moon. Whether it is because the event was of no importance to Meiri or the Dwarves as a whole, or because she was unable to see the event is a matter of some contention among her followers.
