Yohanan

Yohanan is a major deity of the Dwarvish religion, and the progenitor of Clan Avrum. He is typically depicted as an elderly dwarf with silver hair, holding a red-hot hammer above his head. As the father and grandfather of all the other gods in Clan Avrum, Yohanan exemplifies the core tenets of Dwarvish culture: family and duty. He is the husband of Zohara, the Font.   Contents

Dogma

Yohanan believes that all Dwarves are simply parts of a larger whole. Together, Dwarves are greater than the sum of their parts. His tenets reinforce this belief into everyday life in Harkuldir. He expects his followers to put aside their self-interests in favor of advancing Dwarvish society as a whole.

History

Long before the fall of the Pliscian Civilization, Yohanan was the King of the Dwarves. Along with the rest of Clan Avrum, Yohanan saved the Dwarves from some unknown threat originating from deep beneath Essaria. Afterwards, he, his wife Zohara, his children, and his grandchildren ascended to the immortal Iterum of the Golden Mountain.   When the Pliscian Winter toppled all civilazation on Essaria, Yohanan is credited with returning to guide his people to safety underneath the Harkuldir Mountains. In the wake of devastation and the loss of the Pliscians' infrastructure, Yohanan taught the Dwarves metallurgy and crafting. As part of his return to Essaria, part of Yohanan's essence was separated. He took this essence and crafted it into the Crown of the Mountains, which would serve as a guide to the Dwarven kings for the next millennium.
