Chalice University

  Chalice University is a premiere school of higher education located in Bronzehall, and is the largest adventuring academy in the world. It was founded in 336 AE by famed Immortal adventurer Damien Gamble with the goal of "creating heroes for the world that needs them."  

Organization

Chalice's campus is divided into two academies: Erudite and Heroic.   Erudite Academy is the larger of the two and operates very similarly to Eshad University in Daripur. Researchers of history, the sciences, and all traditions of magic live and work within the campus. While not as robust or impressive as Eshad's academics, nevertheless Chalice produces large amounts of innovation in technology, especially in regards to technology derived from The Foundry and Harkkorp Industries.   Chalice University's main attraction is its smaller Heroic Academy. Here, students are trained in the various adventuring arts of fighting, spellcasting, wilderness survival, lockpicking, narrative structure, and much more. Early on in their education, students will form small cliques of adventuring parties. These groups will stay together throughout their years at Chalice, and many parties will continue adventuring together long after graduating.   Students in the Heroic Academy will typically take 4 years to graduate. Early years are spent solidifying core skills and attending classes, while later years are spent performing small adventures while learning the ins and outs of questing. Parties will graduate once each member reaches "Level 3," an esoteric measurement of experience that only Damien Gamble seems to truly understand.  

History

In 299 AE, a magical plague swept through the nation of Edrana, killing a fifth of its population, including famed adventurer Damien Gamble. These victims would shortly be reborn as Immortals, retaining memories of their past life. Damien quickly returned to his adventuring life, but he also realized how quickly it could all be taken away again. Vowing to share his knowledge with young prospective adventurers, Damien opened a small trade school in Bronzehall with his current adventuring party in the year 336 AE.   Applications for the newly founded Chalice University poured in, and by the end of the decade, the school had expanded to meet the needs of over a thousand students. Likewise, his partner Savino Guolloti expanded the scholarly portion of the university, establishing the Erudite Academy alongside Damien's Heroic Academy.   Over the years, Damien has trained hundreds of adventurers, establishing heroes all over Allethra.
