Kingdom of Manaleya

The Manaleyaian people are seafaring voyages. While some may have settled here on Manaleya it is only a small portion of a larger rather intrepid peoples. A kingdom does exists here but it is much less static in nature than the other kingdoms of Esparea. The chief and chiefteness may work in tandem with the rest of Esparea their aims in general are much more personal and much less long term than the other leaders of the realm would like to see. The people of the islands have historically moved the locations of their cities and ports up or down the coast line to follow the fish, only to find that the disruption to the trade routes enrages the other kingdoms. Though they are a resource dense area, trade relations with the kingdom are often strained for these vary reasons. The people themselves are an energetic and deeply spiritual people, almost no activity takes place without blessing or permission from the associated Lao Ki. Highly superstitious, and enthralled with magic; those who show an aptitude for spell craft they are taken away and trained through a series of elemental trials the practitioners of Manaleyaian magic master their relationships with the Lao Ki and the natural world to preform amazing feats of elemental magic. Their nomadic tendencies are seen even in their buildings as they are not intended to be permanent. they are built with bamboo, vines, and other natural fibrous materials prolonged with the use of magic. The only permanent buildings are great shrines where they honor their many gods. The people of Manaleya believe that everything from pebble to pteradon has its own soul, spirit, and ethereal purpose. These highly spiritual people believe in animism and many gods or Lao ki. Instead of great temples to a single God there are instead many shrines to honor different Lāo ki.     On the largest island in the chain is a tree that is so tall it can be seen from the coast of Kesh'mhett This tree flows heavily with magic and is speculated to be the source of all the magic that saturates Esparea. This tree is eternally green and impervious to any form of natural rot or damage. The closer to the tree you are the more docile and intelligent the creatures seem to become. Large religious events are often held at this tree, and include all religions from across Esparea. Often referred to as, the tree of gods, the spirit tree, the life pillar, and many other names this tree resonates with so much magic that having a shrine for your god, patron, or Lao Ki on this tree ensures that they will be known forever.
Fun Fact
  • What is the difference between hurricane monsoon and typhoon?
Typhoon: A typhoon is the same thing as a hurricane. Wind speeds are at 74 mph or higher. The only difference between a typhoon and a hurricane is the location where it occurs. When a “hurricane” occurs in the Ocean, it is called a typhoon. A monsoon often brings about thoughts of torrential rains, similar to a hurricane or typhoon. But there is a difference: a monsoon is not a single storm; rather, it is a seasonal wind shift over a region.   Architecture Raised rectangular houses are one of the cultural hallmarks of the Manaleyaian people. Built on tall stilts above the waters of the lagoons and coves of the surrounding islands they mitigate damage during flooding, monsoons and (in very tall examples) can act as defensive structures during conflicts. The house posts are also distinctively capped with larger-diameter discs at the top, to prevent vermin and pests from entering the structures by climbing them. stilt houses are very common in specifically the regions regions with high rainfall and regular flooding from monsoons. They are made from perishable materials like wood, bamboo, plant fiber, and leaves. Because of this, archaeological records of prehistoric Manaleyaian structures are usually limited to traces of house posts, with no way of determining the original building plans. Shrines of the Manaleyaian people is an exception. The largest Shrines are elaborately adorned with carvings and are often the tallest buildings found on the islands A special type of "Tapping Pillar" supported by a single tall post also had ritual importance and were used to isolate high-born children during their training for leadership. They stand a top the tapping pillar for extended periods of time and in all types of weather and would commune with the many gods to be given lessons and blessings to help them rule well.

Animism Animism is the belief that objects, places and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence. Potentially, animism perceives all things—animals, plants, rocks, rivers, weather systems, human handiwork and perhaps even words—as animated and alive. In Manaleyaian culture these spirits are called Lāo Ki
