Kingdom of Isteeria
The wooded kingdom of Isteeria may be isolated from the other kingdoms in distance, but they are integral in the lumber industry of Esparea.
As most of the lumber in Esparea comes from Isteeria they are one of the top trade kingdoms.
In order to maintain this control of the lumber industry as much energy must be put into planting trees as into harvesting them, if not more.
All Isteerian people are required to spend one month of the year planting trees.
Isteeria is the final of the three Animus kingdoms. It is believed that the Oosugonian's in search of more resources for trade traveled to the east and discovered the great wood. finding it so fertile and mild year round they settled here instead of stripping the wood and returning to Oosugon.
Keeping hold of some of their most valued traditions even over the centuries.
Isteeria is the great kingdom of medicine and healers as many of the ingredients required for these types of rituals magics and sciences all grow in abundance in Isteeria.
This kingdom has been known to deploy healers and take in the young sick and wounded during times of war and famine in Esparea.
Architecture
The architecture in this region is simple but sturdy. Log cabins and Shake roves are common in the area.
Some houses are enhanced with magic to appear whimsical or blend into the forest surrounding.
The mild climate allows for a year long growing season and so gardens are a popular feature for all homes.
These gardens range from "witches gardens" filled with herbs and wild flowers, to heavily cultivated and colorful gardens that change with the seasons.
This extends to the roads as well, many have flora archways and gazebos at the cross roads and several small areas for travelers to rest and enjoy the scenery.
So far removed both physically and in architectural opulence it is easy to feel like one is living in an entirely different world.
Fun Fact
from these ancient forests much of the herbs for making medicine come from this area as does much of the wood used by people all across Esparea.
Temperatures rarely get below freezing in this region and so snow fall is uncommon and short lived, which allows for many herbs and crops to be harvested yearlong. contributing to the overall food stability of Esparea herself.
Some dynasties decreed that each family should plant some trees to ensure the ready supply of Esparea's construction material of choice.
