Jinx Fey

A Jinx Fey is tiny Fey, mainly found in The Feywild Realm, and in the Feywild Expanse of Kutloc, although have also been encountered in the Northern Isle and other parts of Esau. They are also known as Shenanigans.

They like to trick people into saying words at the same time as them, or whispering in people's ears the unspoken six element (Void) - some people wrongly believe them to be from The Plane of Void themselves.

Jinx Fey tend to avoid direct melee combat, preferring to assault their enemies with their spell-like abilities and shortbows. They are chatty creatures, who speak quickly and switch topic frequently - who have a habit of disagreeing with people in conversations, just to be witness to the chaos. Many people blame angry arguments on the Jinx Fey's interruptions.

Common Etiquette Rules

JINXED
Traditionally, on Esau, the penalty for speaking while in the state of being "jinxed" (ie, breaking a jinx) is a firm punch in the arm. Perhaps a more common penalty is that the person owes the jinxer (that is, the person who called jinx) a delicacy of the jinxers choice.

Most ways to reverse a jinx or bad luck, has to do with one of the five spoken elements (Wood, Earth, Water, Fire and Air).
Knocking on wood is the most common superstition used to reverse bad fortune, or undo a "jinx." Other practices are spitting into the wind; lighting a match and speak the jinxers name before the flame blows out; placing six worms into a ball of Earth at the base of a new tree; or having your name whispered by another person into the wind. Also, some people walk backwards towards a mirror, without looking, so the bad luck with be taken by the reflection. Another practice is to throw salt over each shoulder. Having one person speak your name three times. Although it depends on the jinx, how it can be successfully broken.

THE CURSED WORD
Speaking the word "void" three times within your lifetime is said to cause a Void Elemental to find you and steal you away - removing all memory of your existence. The only ever noted reversal of this severe jinx, is to find a Jinx Fey, when you have said the wrd twice already, and have them speak the word for the third time in your stead. The Jinx Fey is then taken to The Plane of Void instead - the person is returned to having a zero count of speaking that cursed word.

History

The Jinx Fey are considered to be adopted members of the Court of One Million Stars. They first appeared when a coven of Bheur Hags casted the spell Awry Hullabaloo for the first time - within the Feywild. Without a place to belong than continued to cause harvoc in The Feywild Realm. The Archfey decided than needed to be taken under the 'wings' of one of the fey courts - only the Court of One Million Stars was, even reluctantly, willing to include them.
