The Creation of Erthos:

Essence or Magic is the fundamental building block of the Universe; It appeared in the Void and began to form the two realms of Erthos. When Essence first formed the worlds, the Spirits inhabited both of the realms. Scholars believe that the Spirits, in their endless pursuit of hoarding Essence, depleted the Mortal Realm of much of the Essence that made it up. Some scholars believe that Essence is a sapient being and forced the Spirits to the Eternal Domain, leaving the Mortal Realm to recover. At this time, many of the Chara Spirits created the Mortal Races to help foster the birth of more Essence. They were able to populate the Mortal Realm with these new beings, ending the time known as the Spirit Age and starting the Mortal Age.

On the continent of Erthos there are four regions that sit around Center Lake. So far these regions have very little interaction between one another. A few brave adventurers have begun to cross the boundaries into other lands.

Aos'rin is a land of forests, rivers, and freezing glaciers in the north. This land is the least inhabited, its inhabitants are migratory for the most part. To the south of that is the region of Saroya, a land of adventure and Spirits. Of the four regions Saroya has the most Spirits that remained in the Mortal Plane after the change in Ages. West of Saroya is Earador, the most populated of the regions with lots of settlements popping up and adventure to be had. The final region sits to the Northwest and is a desolate land that is home to the Varishu and Nathar. Dark empires are starting to arise there and may be the doom of the rest of the regions.
