Dragon's End

Dragon's End, also known as The Corpse, or The End, is the capital of The Halidore Isles - despite it's lack of sea docks and ports. Dragon's End does, however, contain The Isle's main airship docks, built into the sides of the mountains which border the city.   Dragon's End takes it's name from the gargantuan dragon skeleton, inside of which the city has been built. The Dragon was brought crashing down from the sky in the 2300th year of the 2nd Era of Erroth, during a test of some of the first aether cannons. The cannon was supposed to simply fire harmlessly into the air, launching the energy blast a safe distance away to test the blast radius, but malfunctioned, and accidentally fired directly into the path of Qiulong, the enormous golden dragon who served as a spiritual guardian of the Elven society on the island of Ryn'atari in the Calélas archipelago within the Secondary Gulf. The dragon, his flesh torn from his body, crashed to the ground below, almost entirely obliterating the Human city which was once there, forcing them to evacuate and rebuild, during which time many fled to neighbouring towns, fearing war between the Dwarves and the Elves. As a result, other races moved in to call the location their home, greatly diversifying the newly rebuilt town of Dragon's End.   The town is one of the few locations in the Frozen Star of the North which is not perpetually covered in ice and snow - for heat still radiates from the bones of this ancient, long-dead dragon.

Government

Satrapy - The Lord of Dragon's End is appointed by the King of the First Realm of Azith. The Lord is the theoretical ruler of The Halidore Isles, given that Dragon's End is the capital, and so, whilst most settlements in the Frozen Star are able to and do handle affairs internally, superlative cases are sent to Dragon's End, or in extreme cases to the capital of Azith itself, for trial.

Defences

The city sits deep in the middle of a large crater, which formed as the accidentally slaughtered dragon crashed into land below. The only walls constructed within or around the city form the defences around the Dragonbone Keep, built under the orders of the First Lord of Dragon's End - Egar the Mad. The First Lord was intensely paranoid and so theorised that the incredibly strong and resilient dragon bones would make for excellent defences. The original Dragonbone Keep simply had the ribs and other bones which had broken free of the dragon's skeleton strapped to the walls or around the outside as reinforcement. As advancements in technology were made, the Gnomes within the city were able to develop devices to draw the marrow from the bones, mixing the substance with mortar to create the almost impenetrable stone walls which now surround the Keep.

Industry & Trade

Aerocrystal exports leave via the Dragon's End airship dock, distributing worldwide.

Infrastructure

Sewers filter out waste into the waters below, no need for masses of farming infrastructure due to large-scale export of aerocrystal to sustain traid and economy, however the climate allows for incredibly fertile farms, so many do exist.

Guilds and Factions

Dragonsguard - Town guard in charge of defending the city, roughly 70 strong. Well-armed, but large numbers aren't needed as it is well-known that Dragon's End is almost impenetrable and the support for being the capital keeps them well resourced.

Geography

Despite the harsh, cold climate of the island, Dragon's End retains a much warmer, comfortable temperature, due to the warmth still emanating from the magical bones of the dragon. This keeps the ice and cold at bay, and the bones and nearby mountains act as windbreaks to keep the town's climate pleasant.
