Formerly an overarching term for the singular Lower Plane, Sevos has come to refer to the demon-ruled majority of the Plane of Destruction and Corruption. A dimension of blood, slaughter, and survival of the fittest, Sevos is the apex of "kill or be killed." However, the demon realms are more than an unorganized anarchy.
The Sevorahk
Several demons have managed to attain so much power as to command fear and obedience from those weaker than themselves. These viciously strong overlords have been deemed the chosen elites by the hordes of Sevos, earning the title of Sevorahk, or "Abyss Lord" in the common tongues. These Sevorahk are known by mages all across the Material Realm by their known names as detailed in these notes. Even so, they are known to go by aliases or preetend to be deities from the Upper Planes to garner more followers and access to strategic points for corruption and mortal pawns. Novice Clerics, Dark Clerics (those already serving evil entities), and gullable followers are the most likely to be tricked by the schemes of Abyssal Deities and may not always know whom they truly serve.
Sevorahk come in all shapes, sizes, forms, genders (or lack thereof), abilities, intelligences, cultures, and so on. Not all Sevorahk were created in Sevos, either. There are some creatures who originated in other planes, such as Xin Zir'dun, who came from the Astral Plane to Sevos to seek greater power. It is a dark plane with a nearly limitless variety of denizens who have made their home there.
The Heirs of Sevos
In the current era of Sevos, there are five major Sevorahk who are generally regarded to being the closest demons to claiming the title of Vasimul or "Demon King." These five act as the main sources of conflict in the overarching Sevorahk power struggle and a massive amount of the chaotic mayhem that is Sevos. To most demons who are not Sevorahk themselves or their direct subordinates, these five demonic pillars are regarded as "the Heirs of Sevos." This respect stems from not only the immense power that the Heirs possess, but the fact that they are also capable of conquering and controlling multiple realms of Sevos at once with offensive ease.
The Vasimul
The proverbial crown of Vasimul is only bestowed upon a Sevorahk that succeeds in destroying a Material Realm in its entirety.
The Crowning of the Vasimul, the Demon King
The Crowning of the Vasimul marks the beginning of an era of grand change in Sevos. The Crowned undergo a physical and powerful change, their innate abilities becoming amplified, and the key trait used to achieve the crown becoming emphasized to unholy proportions. A fundamental change in Sevos occurs gradually over the period of time between the start and end of the Vasimul's reign.
The Vasimul's Reign Dies
Before a Vasimul's reign ends, a slaughtering of the Sevorahk that served under them ensues. Whether it be instigated by rebellion or simply a frustration with incompetent subordinates, the massace cannot be avoided. After the quest of death is complete and all existing Sevorahk are destroyed, the Vasimul descends to the Core of Darkness, retiring themselves from the active realms of Sevos in favor of the isolation of the Progenitor's Prison. With the Vasimul gone, a brand new generation of Sevorahk will begin to emerge in time.
