O&F5 Session 3: The Fateful Five

The party discovers a treasure chamber, where Oloward starts hoarding all the gold and is foiled to a pearl of power by Tavi, who gives it back to him anyway. As he is doing so, the Lamoraelish dragonborn mercenary Nykkaen Kimbatuul makes his way into the treasure chamber, having been entirely unnoticed by Bubbles. Tavi accidentally blasts him with a firebolt, mistaking him for a lizardfolk, then heals him. Nykkaen is looking for his weapons, which were taken from him by the lizardfolk. As the party returns to Bubbles with the snaring spear, the two lizardfolk have woken up from their magically-induced slumber. The two are broken by the death of their chieftain and are persuaded to start a new peaceful life in Maremot.   Returning to Maremot, the party manages to convince bailiff Badrigo Gente to let the Ssaagh Tribe of lizardfolk settle near the town, and continues to the Foolish Manatee, where Father Cidrico invites them to the Sunday service which has been cast as a service of thanksgiving to them. As Oloward refuses to part with the gold to allow Bubbles to pay for the healing potions they brought with them from Ciatore's, Ciatore himself comes in to ask how things went and ask for payment. After an intervention from Bubbles, the party parts with the gems and gets 2 healing potions and 200 gold pieces, which they finally split amongst themselves. Bubbles uses his gains to buy a hand crossbow off Ciatore, accompanied by Nykkaen. Ciatore proposes to the both of them to look after his plans for extension to Cappebraccia. Ievos has a conversation with Massimo, who encourages him to look into what the Arlesians are up to further. Discussing the next direction, the party settles on going to Cappebraccia by the Delta Trail, stopping at Fordefract to look into the reclamation going on.   The next day, Cidrico talks to the party before the service, asking for a name, which they give as "Oloward the Magnificent and the Fateful (or Faithful) Five". After the service, Prior Brandarius drops in on them, asking them to investigate why the Archbishop of Cappebraccia hasn't arrived to break the tie in the abbatial election yet. As the party leaves town, they see smoke on the horizon in the north. They are accosted by two orcs, one of which an Eye of Gruumsh, looking for Oloward, who desecrated their graves. As this Barzh, Eye of Gruumsh, seeks to get away, he is foiled by the party and slain, promising with his dying breath to destroy Oloward from beyond the grave.   As the session ends, the party veers off course to investigate the smoke.
