O&F5 Session 17: Matters According to Montignac

Having recently returned to The Seat , Oloward and the Fateful Five set about preparing the Great Hall for Montignac's arrival. Directed by Tavi, despite Oloward's worst efforts, Grunn and the Elves patch up the roof of the Hall with thatch and canvass, and the hall is brought into rough but serviceable shape just in time for Montignac's arrival on the evening of the second day.   Montignac arrives at the Seat, complimenting the party on their success in exploding the Bastion and telling them it advanced the interests of the Princely Company now that Cappebraccia's guilds are less able to project power. He reveals that this is "mere politics", asking the party to aid him in securing an artifact, which he reveals to be the Wand of Orcus when pressed, from the sunken city in the Grand Austral Delta, which was the purpose of the reclamation near Fordefract. He claims he does not know who is behind it, but he does let on that their plans endanger the world's existence.   Rubinus reveals that he did not know the wand of Orcus was topped by the skull of Saint Corvida, and tells Tavi that "Come to think of it, I'm not sure I believe anymore what people claim about the fact that it would be impossible to destroy the wand."   Oloward and the Fateful Five do not trust Montignac, but they decide to go along. Montignac gives them the name of Brother Pierre at Sanarionna Priory on the Hespialic Ways of St. Elisia. Remembering their deduction of the possible presence of a bronze dragon at Hespius's Seat, who might be an ally (or mount), they decide to cross back through Sefiras Swamp and Maremot on the way.
