Astral Academy

A true landmark within the city of Irodmere, the Astral Academy has stood for over two thousand years. A sprawling campus rivaling the opulence of Castle Del'Tarr, the academy takes up nearly half of Irodmere's Ivory District. The main building consists of a large tower surrounded by five smaller spires. surrounding the main building in a semi circular formation are the school's library, four training halls, and six dormitories. Beneath the campus is a network of catacombs which are the subject of many rumors.

While the academy is known primarily for its study of magic, they offer a broad selection of classes for higher learning of a more mundane nature as well. Many nobles and high born aristocrats study at the academy without ever touching a spell scroll. The central tower houses the introductory classes as well as classes for general learning, while the outer spires each specialize in a different school of magic. Abjuration, Conjuration, Enchantment, Evocation, and Transmutation are all taught in detail within the spires, while the other schools of magic are covered in a broader sense in the main tower. Illusion magic is viewed by the administration as the most basic school of magic, while Divination and Necromancy are seen as the purview of the divine or druidic arts.

The academy's administration consists of the headmaster as well as the five professors who oversee the spires. They meet on a bi-weekly basis in the headmaster's chambers, at the top of the central tower. There are whispers among the students and other faculty of a mysterious seventh individual who often attends these meetings. Some believe this secret administrator is actually the Grand Marquess attending in disguise, while others say that this person is connected to the rumors surrounding the catacombs.
