Amuni Sky Skiff

The Free City of Amun is at the forefront of aerial travel in the world, boasting the second largest skyport behind the Free city of Geoffer. Their innovations and integration of the old and still obscure charter magic engines into flying ships has led to a global race into the technology and its practical applications. Though the technology is still new and not widespread, the small transportation vessels are becoming more and more common with each passing year in and around the borders of the Free Cities. Of these transportation vessels, the Sky Skiff is the most common and most popular, due to its affordabiulity by the common folk.

Power Generation

The Sky Skiff, like many, if not all, of its airborne cousins, is powered by a charter magic engine, commonly refered to as a Cloud Wright. This device not only acts as a generator and conduit for the other systems that allows the skiff to sail through the skies, but also imposes something of a distortion to the mass of the structure it is attached to, causing the structure to seem lighter, or invert the effects of gravity upon it. The exact science is still not fully understood, but the best way to describe it is when a pair of magnets with the same polarity are moved closer to one another, they will naturally attempt to drift away from one another, as it is with the Cloud Wright and its attached structure maintaining its ability to climb and then sail through the sky.

Weapons & Armament

Since the skiffs are primarily used for transportation, be it civillian or troops, they are often only equiped to deal with aerial threats, such as great birds and dragons, though the latter may not be threatened by the light armaments the skiff carries. To deal with the aerial threats, the skiff is equipped with a pair of light scorpion balista near the front and back of the vessel.

Armor and defense

Unless the skiff is outfitted for combat, it does not usually have any sort of armor. Though many of the hulls have a layer of thin metal, this is mostly to assist in gliding through the clouds, despite its cpasity to deflect light munitions.

Additional & auxiliary systems

The Skiff is a two decked vessel, the upper deck exposed to the elements and where the majority of crew activity occurs during transit. The lower deck is accomidating to passengers, via a series of often wooden benches set in lines. As these vessels serve primarily as mass transortation vessels, there is little in the means of extemporanious comforts, relying on the passengers to supply their own comfort accomidations during their travel. The lower deck also houses crew quarters and sustainability accomidations in the way of a brig, mess, and latrines. Because of these, the skiff can maintain flight for a handful of days comfortably with food and lavetries for crew and passengers.
