Zetia
The Kingdom of Zetia is the western kingdom in Arheim, nestled throughout the massive Zetian Mountain Range. As the oldest of the three kingdoms at two thousand four hundred years old, it has the most complicated political structure, using various checks and balances to crown a king by popular vote of the nobility. Zetia uses its natural defenses to keep it safe while it focuses on growing the best crops in Arheim and producing the most fantastic art. It is the breadbasket of Lesser Smiltis as well as a cultural mecca, and is generally described to be the most beautiful. The aristocracy thrives on art and performances while their servants toil in the fields, but due to a combination of strict management, frequent holidays, and fair pay the nobility avoid uprisings, though they have been known to happen from time to time during periods of famine or disease.
Structure
The King is the most powerful man in the kingdom, elected for life by the other members of nobility. To be eligible to rule you must be male, of noble descent, in good standing with the law, and in good health. The king has power to enact any law he wishes as long as it does not go against any laws made by someone other than himself. Otherwise he must appeal to the other nobility and put it to a vote as to which law is going to be used in the future. Due to the age of Zetia and its plethora of laws, this forces the king to stay in popularity of the nobility or be made useless, and the nobility is forced to remain peaceful with the king or risk being ignored in their requests for new laws. Those who are not noble but are still affluent are either small land owners who manage farmlands or city blocks, artists, or traders (if on the coast).
Public Agenda
Zetia's biggest goal is to grow the best crops possible as fast as possible to keep up with the need for food in Arheim. Lesser goals include being a patron to the arts and a home for eccentric entertainers, as they want to be the most exotic locale to attract tourists and please Friz.
Assets
The kingdom is home to massive fields which produces hundreds of thousands of crops each season, making them indispensable as allies to the other kingdoms. They also run the art market, and provide entertainment with plays and literature. Lastly they run several small gold mines, which they stockpile in case of emergency.
Bless our prospering hands.
