Velsentyr
A Velsentyr is a type of ghost created not out of lingering regrets or vengeance, but out of a strong desire to protect. These ethereal creatures emerge when someone dies with an unwavering desire to protect another, whether it's a loved one, a comrade, or even a stranger. This intentional energy does not linger indefinitely. Instead, it seeds itself into the person they want to protect, building a link that strengthens over time.
Rather than being a free-roaming spirit, a Velsentyr is anchored within the aura of its chosen charge. It feeds slowly and harmlessly, taking from their surplus energy for no more than the cost of casting a cantrip. In exchange, the host obtains a slight sixth sense: a tingling sensation as danger approaches. Even before the threat is fully perceived, reflexes sharpen, words flow more quickly, and the body prepares to respond.
When that danger becomes life-threatening, or when the person is confronted with something they cannot emotionally or mentally handle, the Velsentyr awakens. When it transitions from dormant to visible form, it adopts the image of its creator, if known. If not, it looks to be a vision fashioned by the protected person's deepest instincts: a guardian they feel will stand between them and danger.
In this state, the Velsentyr becomes palpable. It can attack, defend, and intervene. Some project dread auras, weakening foes or buying precious seconds. Others demonstrate the ability to quickly heal minor wounds. Though capable of passing through matter, they may choose to interact with the physical world directly when necessary.
These are the most common skills reported among Velsentyr, while stronger attachments or deeper passion may activate larger powers that remain buried within their spectral forms.

Velsentyr: Manifested Form
A Velsentyr typically appears in one of two forms, depending on the memories and emotions of the person it protects.
If the protected individual has clear memories of the one who originally conjured the Velsentyr, the spirit will manifest in that person’s likeness. The more deeply the individual viewed that person as a guardian, protector, or heroic figure even if only from stories the more vivid and detailed the form will be.
However, if the individual has little to no memory of the original conjurer, the Velsentyr instead takes on the shape of what the person believes, in their heart of hearts, to be a true guardian. This might be a noble beast, a celestial spirit, a monster, or even a creature of legend. The form reflects what the soul instinctively turns to for protection.
The Velsentyr Its body is a glowing aura made of ectoplasm drawn from the host’s mana signature subtle, glowing in hues that echo the host's own magical essence. Though their body appears ethereal or divine, it can become corporeal and capable of interacting with the physical world when manifested.

Biological Traits
At their core, Velsentyr have basic ghostly abilities, such as phasing in and out of corporeal form and passing through solid objects. They are distinguished by their powerful telekinetic abilities, which allow them to move, control, or hurl items with pinpoint accuracy. They move quickly and purposefully, whether to protect their charge by moving obstacles out of their way or to eliminate a threat.
When they assault, their punches may appear harmless—or even absurd—but the consequences are far from trivial. Their attacks cut through typical defenses, causing massive damage regardless of appearance. A phantom sandal may smack bone with enough force to fracture it, while claws made of spirit energy can cut through solid armor. These attacks are not physical in the usual sense, but their ferocity and aim make them terrifyingly real.

Ecology and Habitats
A Velsentyr lives in the aura of the person it was meant to protect, anchored deep near the heart chakra as a faint, ethereal glow. This spiritual core provides sanctuary and sustenance to the Velsentyr while it is dormant. The link is symbiotic; gentle energy flows sustain the ghost, and it stands ready to act when necessary.
If the host dies, the Velsentyr starts to unravel. It can't exist without its anchor. However, many do not vanish right away. Instead, they frequently use the last of their essence in a final act of vengeance, releasing their full ghostly might on the person guilty for their charge's murder. This last burst is tremendous, propelled by pain and obligation, but it eventually ends in their silent disappearing.

Behaviour
Velsentyr are extremely protective beings, their essence formed by the need to safeguard their chosen charge. When they appear, their personalities frequently reflect the emotional weight of guardianship such as a strict mother, a vigilant father, or a silent sentinel standing between their ward and harm.
They rarely speak, instead relying on their presence and gesture to communicate their intentions. Depending on their host's beliefs and emotional requirements, a Velsentyr may communicate itself with a soft, disapproving tilt of the head like a mother warning against danger or with the imposing calm of a guardian silently daring a threat to come close.
Though their personalities are not particularly complicated, most Velsentyr serve a single purpose: protection. Their movements resemble those of beasts defending their young or warriors guarding something sacred. They are not ordinary partners or buddies, but rather shields shaped by love, obligation, or unfulfilled promises.

Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
While dormant, a Velsentyr passively experiences its host's senses. It sees the world through their eyes, listens through their ears, and, most crucially, detects variations in energy and emotion that indicate potential threats. This increased awareness smoothly improves the host's senses, giving them a kind of sixth sense an instinctual reaction to danger that helps trigger their fight or flight responses or sharpens their awareness to make them ready.
The Velsentyr, which is sensitive to both the outside environment and the host's inner condition, uses this information to decide whether to remain hidden or emerge fully.
When fully realized, the senses grow more sophisticated. Though it no longer has a physical body, the Velsentyr perceives the universe in a way that combines spirit and feeling. It can see, hear, and feel without passing through body or nerves. Instead, it perceives through energy: sound vibrations, mana flow, other people's emotional auras, and delicate pulses of life and magic in its environment. These senses, while difficult to express in mortal terms, provide the Velsentyr with a unique level of awareness, particularly during times of great tension.
