APPEARANCE/PHENOTYPE
Low, tufting legume with slender, hairy stems and trifoliate leaves. Leaflets are obovate, 1.5–3 cm long, often with a faint pale chevron. Stipules are conspicuous and papery at the base of each petiole.   Flower heads are globose to slightly elongated (2–4 cm diameter), composed of numerous pink to rose florets. A shallow, fibrous root system bears nodules typical of nitrogen-fixing clovers.
