Esen

The Town of Esen is the westernmost settlement in the Raone kingdom, as such, it is also a major trading town with The Forges , the elves of the Sehanine Forest  and other people farther west. Situated securely on the west bank of the Moonsilver River, the imposing stone walls of the Fort are the first things a traveler sees before completing crossing the wide river on one of the barge-like ferries or nicer passenger ferries. After arriving on the docks of the Raone side of the river, a wide cobbled road stretches before them. This road is the beginning of the West Road and following it will be a long days walk to The Banks and eventually to the capital, Elaria.    The city's center, or the old city, is encircled by a well built grey stone wall with towers of stone. The style is a unique marriage of elegant elven and heavy and bold dwarven styles. The city has expanded beyond the walls and farms, orchards, and ranches spread out among the gentle rolling hills of the area. Shopping and workshop districts are smaller and separated, as if a dozen smaller towns had grown into each other. There is one much larger marketplace closer to the largest gate into the old city, in an official market plaza, which is a signature feature in large towns and cities in the Dom of Raone.
