Crown Brandt Flamesun

The third Crown, Brandt Flamesun (human) was a young 19 year old at the time of his election in 127 AP. He was born in Keylara in 108 AP in poverty and at a young age began working with his uncle at the docks as a fisherman as well as in construction with his mom. His dad had been absent early in his life, but showed up one day trying to make amends. Brandt, in his 13 going on 30 fashion, made him pass a test first, before allowing him back into their lives. The test lasted weeks, but his father passed and began teaching him how to fight with a sword. Brandt joined the Leyvarr Guard as soon as he was old enough at age 16, and quickly became a leader that even older and more experienced fighters were willing to follow.   A heavy weight was placed on him being both the first human Crown and to begin his position under the circumstances. He rose following the death of Crown Alethera Trisvaris , revealed to him in his very first Council meeting as death due to poisoning. Although angry, he agreed that the best course of action first was to gather intel before jumping into declaring war. Publicly, he rallied the people in his natural idealology that if you want things to be better, you need to take action to make it better. Historians later would argue whether or not Crown Brandt was preparing his people to get into a war mentality or if he was just continuing being himself.   The war against the Grats clan in the Forges began only a year after, when the spies confirmed the Grats plans to kill one Crown and rig the elections to place their own choice in the Crown Council. Further sabotages occurred throughout the Dom all over, causing buildings to explode, diseases to break out, and wells to be posioned. The remainder of the clans secretely supported the Dom in their war, but publicly remained neutral and standoffish. The Grats War also tested the relationship between the Dom and the elves of the Sehanine Forest , since they weren't directly involved and preferred to remain that way. However, individuals were sent to assist in the strategy and espionage within the Grats clan.   The Grats War lasted a harrowing three years, as every city and large town within the Dom were directly affected one way or another. Whether by illness, damage to the town, or the loss of life in Guard sent to fight. Towards the end of the war, the Grats' motives and aims become clear as they marched an army of seige towers, automotons, and other gadgets south towards Esen. Thousands of Guards lost their lives in the bombings and the seige.   The war ended with mastery of tactics by Crown Brandt, the Grand Generals, assistance from Sehanine Elven leadership and a single key piece of info from one of the other Forges clans. As a large final battle raged for four days at Esen, other moves were made to eliminate the entire hierarchy of the Grats clan. The battle ended decisively at sunrise on the last day at Esen when several potions were used successfully against enemy mechanations, effectively mass shutting them down until the leadership could be captured or killed.   Following the Grats War, a revival construction period began, rebuilding the damage caused by the war as well as a cultural shift towards a rising elite class of merchants that benefited from the rebuilding. Many towns suffered heavy losses, such as Carmela, who lost so many of the youngest generation.   Many years of peace were broken by increasingly frequent Goblin attacks on the city of Lores, and once again, Crown Brandt picked up his sword and went to war. After nearly a decade of the Goblin Wars, the Dom successfully defended it's land and Brandt began to think of more peacfeul days.   Crown Brandt Flamesun stepped down from his position in 162 AP, retiring to spend time with his grandchildren and to attempt to solve the mystery of the Haunted Isle Giant's Tears Lake. He disappeared one stormy day on the lake in 171 AP, searching for a way through the mists to the island, his ship found two days later on the lake, drifting and empty.   Two decades later, a small but ornate boat was found floating near the docks. Locals who were there say that the morning mist got "thicker than was natural" and when it thinned, this boat emerged from the fog. The boat was clearly made for the former Crown, with his body laid out respectfully in a full set of armor and his signature sword. The boat was found with a preservation magic on it, clearly to make sure the body didn't rot before it was found. The former Crown appeared both older and younger at once. He had lived those 21 years he had been missing, but he looked as healthy and vibrant as one could in death. Brandt's grandchildren decided to bury him in Keylara on the lake and he lays to rest in a mausoleum half on water and half on shore.   Crown Brandt Flamesun was followed by Crown Jieli Ru
