When the lizardfolk found the area where Chessenta now lies they discovered that undead would appear at seemingly random, as if summoned out of thin air. The leader of the expedition to this area quickly decided that this would be a good place to train new hunters against weaker undead and serve to limit the number of undead in the marshes.
While the expedition that initially found the area was equipped with enough tools to dig primitive walls and start a settlement it was still difficult to manage the undead that spawned at seemingly random. It was not until one of the younger lizardfolk on guard duty realized that they only spawned in a relatively small area of 1 square kilometre that any progress could be made. After the discovery, a wall was constructed around the area and the village was quickly built up with a proper wall around it as well. The area has since then served as a training area for new hunters and fighters and with the construction some scholars even believe that the number of undead in the marshes has decreased. This development did, however, not sit well with the Holy Order of Druids and they have since then made a variety of attempts from diplomacy to sabotage in order to remove the village or fence.
