After the battle between the Holy Order of Druids and the gods, no one wanted to live on the island where it took place. The island was infested with undeads so few even wanted to go near it. It was not until much later that some mortal adventurers began searching the battlefield for valuable artefacts.

After a spear previously wielded by a god and thought lost in the battle was recovered from the island, many more adventurers began swarming to the island. Many of these were too inexperienced and quickly died. As the rush began to fade some stayed and started building inns and markets for those strong enough to take on the undead. This was quickly met with disapproval by the Holy Order of Druids and any merchant ships headed to the port were attacked by privateers which were likely hired by the druids.
