Zweschra Redtolls

Zweschra Redtolls (a.k.a. Zweschra Kweulherdt)

Zweschra Redtolls was an anticolonial revolutionary, poet, thaumaturge, and leader of the Kweulherdt tribe of the Schönntu. She led an uprising against Kaisan Kriehehrdtia called the Schönntu Rebellion. The revolutionaries were defeated by the superior equipment and numbers of the Kaisan forces, and she is missing and presumed dead.

History

The Redtolls were a prominent family within the Kweulherdt tribe. They were part of the administrative class of Kaisan Krieherdtia, given some amount of authority and greater privileges, but as a result, they were isolated from the rest of the tribe. Zweschra grew up with about as good of an education as an indigenous Schönntu could receive within the Kaisan colony. She had a fascination with history, politics, and law from an early age, and her parents hoped she would follow in their steps. However, she had no interest in becoming complicit within the colonial structure.   With her family's resources, she was able to get the education to become a lawyer, studying politics and the inner workings of the Kaisan state. At the same time, she is believed to have studied Thaumaturgy from Schönntu occultists. All the while, she wrote songs and petry imagining a free Kriehehrdtia and searched for allies among the colonized people of Kaisan Kriehehrdtia. A charismatic and intelligent person, she found herself adept at the work of building networks and preparing for a revolution. She and her allies got their chance when an increase to the colonial tax led to widespread unrest and small uprisings across Kaisan Krieherdtia. She and many of her allies took up arms that they had been slowly stockpiling and began raiding plantations, small towns, and colonial forts. They targeted the infrastructure and livelihoods of the Kaisan colonists, hoping to force them to flee. She hoped that the activities of her army would spark a widespread revolt, especially within the Krieherdti Colonial Auxiliaries.   Unfortunately, while the uprising was catching on, the auxiliaries remained loyal to Kaisa, and without significant armed support, Kaisa was able to target the revolting cities and tribes with overwhelming violence. Zweschra and her forces had to flee into the hinterlands, where they continued their revolution through a guerilla campaign. This continued for several months, but with vastly inferior equipment and with most Kriehehrdti too scared of reprisals to support her, she was eventually cornered at Nädt Jammlo by a detachment led by Tagmatarchis Gabris. Her forces were butchered, and she is believed to have died in the fighting.   However, legends surround her death, and some claim that she sprouted wings and flew from the battlefield, weeping for her people. She has become a martyr and a symbol of anticolonial resistance in Krieherdtia. "Zweschra Nefte!" has become a rallying cry of revolutionaries.
