Manco Mk I
The Manco Tup 1 was the first truly automatic machine gun, designed by Costanza Manco. It introduced the self-loading action and made popular the ammunition belt. It is water-cooled (7.5 pints) to allow sustained fire. In 1317, the Khahlanong Imperial Army adopted it and Imperial Arms Manufacturing mass-produced it as the Manco Mk I. Shortly after, Teague Manufacturing licensed the design to produce a variant in the new, smokeless .303 Dornish.
Both Mk I variants used 250-round non-disintegrating belts (30 lbs., or 40 lbs. in wooden box, in .450). In 1321, a 150-round belt was introduced for the .450 model (18 lbs., or 23 lbs. in wooden box). Mancos were originally mounted on a horse-drawn, two-wheeled artillery carriage (1,456 lbs. including gun and limber). In 1325, a sturdy, 48-lb. tripod (2700 G) became available, allowing a single pack animal to carry mount and gun.
In 1313-17, a few selective-fire pre-production guns were made, chambered in .450 Ngangar. The slim water jacket held 3 pints and the tripod (2850 G) weighed 14 lbs. This model was produced in limited quantities, but some can still be found on the market.
The Republic of Tehant bought the Mk I in 7x57mm Tehanti; the Fazwan State and Brevia, in 7.65x53mm MSN; and Lawuusmut, in 7.92x57mm MSN. Coterait acquired a few hundred in .30-06 Radescu.
Finally, in 1336 Drizhni adopted a version called the M1336, designed by Provan Kollar and chambered in 7.62x54mm LaRue-Kollar. These were widely used during the Last War. The M1336 was usually mounted on a small, two-wheeled carriage (79 lbs.), which could be fitted with a DR 20 gun shield (20 lbs.).
