The Elven Schism

With the arrival of the dragons, dissent among the elven houses causes their four houses to splinter back on the mainland. When one of the Dark Elf houses splinters to follow Draconis as an avatar of their deity incarnated, the Light Elves also reorganize to give rise to the Sea Elves.

When dragons arrived in Dunia, a cult of dragon-worshippers arose amongst the Dark Elves. These elves were mostly those who followed the snake god Serpentis, believing Draconis to be a living incarnation of their deity. Before long, the two Dark Elf factions splintered into three - now known as House Serpentis, House Arachnis, and House Draconis.   It is the nature of elves to seek balance between light and dark, and the fracture of the dark elves caused a massive disruption in elven politics. To compensate, the Light Elves came together in an emergency council, and after 11 days of intense discussions a new elven faction was created as the Sea Elves. Members from both the High Elves and Wood Elves were selected to be the founders of this new faction, and in time the Sea Elves became close allies with the Storm Dragons and the Tssrrn.
