Merianite
Once believed to be nothing more than Namdia 's most boring volatile material, Merianite has become the unsung hero of the Mercian cultural revolution and the cornerstone of progress within the discovery and innovation of Mercian Fortification and specifically owing to it's use and strength when used within Suspended Bubbles to create such pinnacles of production such as the Bubble Bands which are now used throughout the Kingdom of Meria.
History & Usage
Industrial Use
Merianite is the key ingredient within the Suspended Bubbles technology, harnessing the power of the Merian Sea's turbulent winter tides and storing the energy to save Merfolk settlements such as Mercia and then being slowly expelled to create Bubble Bands, a useful transportation vector in industrialisation and inter-connectivity within Merfolk settlements.
Hazards
Merianite, when charged with tidal energy, can be an extremely volatile and hazardous material and should be handled only in controlled environments or by trained professionals. Storage of Merianite and handling of Merianite-fueled technology should be taken with the upmost care and caution and is heavily regulated within Merfolk dense regions such as the Kingdom of Meria.
Merianite is also a highly toxic and poisonous material when ingested and can kill within minutes of direct contact. PPE or other such protective measures are highly advised when interacting with the material.
Distribution
Storage
Due to it's extreme volatility Merianite requires a special type of protective storage that can prevent against severe disturbance and damage to the product and must be heavily monitored with strict inventory documentation. When used within Suspended Bubbles or Bubble Bands the Merianite chamber must be sealed and only interacted with machinery. Merianite chambers are required by law to disconnect from the source in an emergency and ideally will be expelled into a tube or chamber that is explosion proof and, most importantly, away from exposure to the public.
