Warriors of Bast
The Warriors of Bast are an order of monks who follow the warrior goddess. They separate themselves from the rest of Bast's small order and dedicate their lives to the study of different fighting techniques, primarily martial arts.
Structure
Organized similar to the Japanese Samurai, the Warriors of Bast are the most elite fighting force in Draconia, surpassing even those among the Coalition of the Sovereign Institutes of Horus. The one distinction is that all warriors are female and this is a monastic order whose patron deity is Bast. The warriors devote themselves to the martial goddess and fight in her name. The head of the order is called Wer Calti ("The Cat" in Draconic). Below the Wer Calti are warriors known as Gix ("Claw") who have mastered both fighting and discipline. The lowest rank is Kosj ("Small") who are generally either apprenticed to a Gix or are under general training at the monastery.
Bast dwells on the Material Plane and the monastery is located at her home on Mount Bakhau, though the monastery is only located at the summit while Bast's home is located on the peak.
Culture
Bast is a deity that supports mothers and so her warriors often support and work alongside the Sisterhood of the Mother. In fact, during periods of war or unrest, Warriors of Bast will often accompany Sisterhood members to protect them as they minister to mothers in warzones.
Additionally, warriors live by a code of honor that they will never violate. This code consists of the following.
- Never harm the innocent.
- Never hurt a friend.
- Never lie to a fellow warrior.
- Never speak ill of a fellow warrior.
- Never harm a feline.
- Treat warriors of Horus with respect; they've probably earned it.
- Never betray.
- Keep all confidences.
- Never harm a mother or child.
