Dark
Dark, associated with the moon, is the god who hid the sun for four generations after a cosmic battle with Light.
With the help of a Child of Light, Light managed to push Dark away and relit the sun. But Dark is strong and Light's power is waning, so each year Dark slowly takes back the sun until a new Child of Light comes.
And each new year, a child of Light, must be sent on a pilgrimage through the Dark Lands to relight the sun and keep Dark at bay.
Dark represents:
- knowledge hidden
- truths too great to bear
- silence, subtext, intention
- cold, ice, death,
- the unseen machinery of the cosmos
His divine goal is to keep humankind from achieving its potential, keeping them in a survival-loop so they don't have space to develop technologically.
Should they evolve too much, he will act under guise or manipulate to foil advancement. It is said he can appear and speak to chosen ones through their blood.
