More than a thousand years after a cataclysmic solar flare nearly erased humanity, the world has rebuilt itself inside twenty-two radiant domed cities powered by sunlight. Magic, new species, and strange ecologies have emerged from centuries of mutation, while the Dark Lands beyond the domes remain a warped wilderness shaped by the sun’s collapse. Each year, a single Child of Light is chosen and ritually sent to the distant altar to “renew the sun,” though none who escort them ever return. Beneath the myths and castes that now rule society, a forgotten truth sleeps in the ruins: the world is sustained not by gods, but by the broken ghosts of two ancient minds—one desperate to preserve humanity, the other determined to end it.
