Morfenzi
Morfenzi, once a thriving rural community nestled amid fertile fields and thick copses of oak and pine, is now a place of silent ruin and grim remembrance in the Domain of Dread Falkovnia. Situated southeast of the city of Lekar, Morfenzi was known for its productive farms, fine vineyards, and skilled herbalists. Today, its name is spoken only in whispers by those who still remember—or fear what lingers in its shadow.
Morfenzi is a graveyard masquerading as a village. In Falkovnia, even the land remembers.
Geography
Once verdant fields now lie fallow, the soil salted with ash and blood. Crumbled walls and roofless barns are all that remain of the farmsteads that dotted the landscape. Trees grow twisted and bare, their limbs reaching like claws toward a sky too often shrouded in storm clouds or the black smoke of funeral pyres.
- The Village Proper is a skeletal husk of crumbled stone cottages and scorched timbers.
- The Central Green, once a lively gathering place, is now a muddy expanse of churned earth where shallow graves rise like boils.
- The Church of Ezra, once a beacon of faith, is blackened and broken—its bell silent, its altar desecrated.

Tone and Themes
- Tragedy and Silence: Morfenzi is not just abandoned—it mourns. Every ruin whispers of love, loss, and terror.
- Horror of Memory: It stands as a cautionary tale for Falkovnians who believe any corner of the land is safe.
- Dead Without Peace: Morfenzi is haunted not by monsters alone, but by grief incarnate.
History
Morfenzi fell during one of the earliest major undead incursions, before Vladilena Aderre fully militarized the domain. The villagers resisted bravely but unprepared, and the zombie legion overwhelmed them in a single night. The survivors were few—fewer still remained sane. Most of the bodies were never recovered, and many of the undead that now plague Falkovnia still wear the tatters of Morfenzi’s garb.
It is said the dead of Morfenzi never rest, that the village was built on a fault line of cursed earth, or that a plague-bringer among the villagers welcomed the doom for spite or vengeance.
Tourism
- Cursed Graves: The burial grounds behind the ruined church are said to be haunted by wights or vengeful spirits, angry that their souls were never properly laid to rest.
- The Apothecary’s Cellar: Beneath a ruined herbalist’s hut lies a hidden laboratory, long sealed. Rumors speak of strange experiments conducted to try and reverse undeath.
- The Well of Ashes: In the town square, the old well is now a pit of scorched bone and unnatural darkness. No one who climbs down it has ever returned.
Though abandoned, Morfenzi draws:
- Foolhardy scavengers, hoping to find relics or supplies.
- Cultists who venerate undeath and wish to commune with the spirits of the slain.
- Desperate necromancers, seeking to unlock whatever remains of the village’s unholy resonance.
These interlopers often disappear—sometimes dragged screaming into the mist, other times simply never seen again.
