Gamal, God of the Sea, Stars, and Travellers
Born from the Stars
Once humanity was getting comfortable with their current lifestyle, many started setting out and exploring the lands around them to settle. They thought they might be able to meet more of their kind, too. Sometime during this expansion and creation of organized nations, Gamal was created. Unlike the other gods, he doesn't actually have a proper creation myth. The furthest it goes is that some of the islands in the Chaotic Sea (the stars in the sky) gained sentience and combined together to form a god. This origin explains his domain of the stars. As a side note, Ashlians believe the stars in the sky are a thousand tiny little islands in the Chaotic Sea. By this logic, if you were to go to the southern hemisphere of Darkguard and look up at the sky at night, you wouldn't see the stars. Instead, you would see the Lawful Tree. Shooting stars are simply fragments of these islands being blown apart during divine battles and landing on Darkguard.People use the stars for navigation, especially sailors. Sailors are a form of traveler. See what I'm getting at here? This is how the rest of his domains were deduced from just his origin as a star god. Sailors pray to both him and Dulvir while out on the sea, both for good weather and for proper navigation. He is also believed to be in control of sea creatures, and there are many myths where he helps heroes who are lost or stranded at sea. He usually controls the waves or sends animals to help them out in those situations. He is also, of course prayed to by travelers of all sorts. Anyone hoping to not get lost usually prays to him, too. Besides sailors, his most devoted followers include merchants (in case they have to leave an established trade route), guides, anyone looking for a purpose in life (his "guiding hand" can be interpreted metaphorically, too), and many adventurers and explorers. Also, fishermen, whalers, and shipwrights all pray to him regularly. His messenger angels typically take on the form of seagulls or whales. His holy symbol is a four-pointed star within a golden circle.
