Shattered Lands
"When I was younger, some travellers were proposing alternate routes into the so-called Old World to avoid the Shattered Lands altogether.The Old World archipelago is divided into two main regions. In the south, there is the Shattered Lands. It is a group of islands with mountain and rocks, and is surrounded by Phadoya Sea. The central islands are covered in a rainforest while the outer islands are drier and less habitable. The Shattered Lands is seen as dangerous by many adventurers, mainly because of the outer islands. They have a lot of decaying matter and dead plants around. But if adventurers manage to go further into the region, they will find larger islands covered in lush rainforest and calmer animals.
Inhabitants
The Shattered Lands are the homeland of the Orcs. The name comes from the fact that the islands were once connected, but were destroyed in the Sentinel War. However, the Orcs do not call their homeland the Shattered Lands. That is the name people outside the continent gave the region. Internally, the region is called Kupesh, which is from the Orkish language.The Orcs aren't the only humanoid inhabitants of the lands. There are also small Fairies that live in the Great Forest. The Orcs call them the Kanoshi and believe they are the stuff of legends. Fairies do not disturb the Orcs much, but they do live on those islands too. Some Fairies live on the Narulesh Islands, rather than the Great Forest.
"After the war, I heard the Orcs closed themselves off to outsiders and now refuse visitors. Probably for the best. Us travellers tend to bring trouble."
Islands
The Shattered Lands is an archipelago of about eight islands. The main island is Alcraz, and it happens to be the largest. The other islands circle around Alcraz and are divided into two subregions: the Andalesh Islands and the Narulesh Islands.Andalesh Islands
Apart from Alcraz, there are four other islands that make up the Andalesh Islands. These islands are much safer than the outer islands and are where the Orcs live. Some Fairies live here too, like the Nelam. The Andalesh Islands are covered in a dense forest, called the Great Forest. The forest connects all the islands together with thick vines and trees that attach to each other. But nothing connects Andalesh to the Narulesh Islands.Narulesh Islands
The Narulesh Islands surround the Andalesh Islands, and are the first point of contact for many people coming into the Old World. Unlike the Andalesh Islands, the Narulesh Islands are polluted and there are few plants and animals there. It is mainly arid, dusty and mountainous, so only animals adapted to that landscape thrive. The Narulesh Islands were the worst affected by the Ice Age, so there are a lot of ruins in the mountains and the region. Some Fairy Courts are based here too.
