Isinoki

Isinoki is the northernmost island in the Sunlit Horizon and one of the largest. Most of it remains uninhabited because of the dangerous animals on the island and the frequent droughts.   The island is known for its large caverns and canyons. The most famous one is simply called the Isi Canyon and is located in the northeast. That is because it has many reservoirs, which are treasured in times of drought.  

Geography

Like most of the Sunlit Horizon, Isinoki regularly experiences droughts and famines because of the heat. Water is often in short supply, and so most towns are built around the few water sources they can find. There are small pools of water near the canyons, so most towns are built there. Animals also come to the pools to drink, so it is not uncommon for Isi towns to have wild animals visiting.   Isinoki is known for its strong winds and dangerous sandstorms. There have not been many sandstorms in recent years but they still come at least once a year because of droughts. Some animals also come out and attack people and other animals during a sandstorm because they have better vision. So most towns have a curfew when a sandstorm occurs.  

Inhabitants

The only people on Isinoki are the Isi, and most live in the northern parts of the island. They live in small towns dotted around the island. The Isi are known for their strong adherence to old traditions and the rule of law.   There are also plenty of animals on the island. Many roam the land during the day and go to sleep at night. Most stay away from humanoids during the day and prefer not to attack. If they are aggressive, then cowpokes are hired to deal with the animals. In the evenings and at night, some dangerous animals will come out and look for prey. Many of these animals are carnivorous and will raid animal habitats or Isi towns. To combat this, the Isi have started making barbed fences to keep the animals out. Most towns have implemented a strict nighttime curfew because of the amount of casualties.
