In a normal course, every 5 years, Two Minotaur are selected from the most loyal and decorated members of the Minotaur Legion and will challenge the current Pledged Minotaur to a gladiatorial match in the Capital. An annual gladitorial festival has grown around this event with smaller events in intervening years. If the current Pledged Minotaur should lose, thier mate, offspring and any other minotaur on the plot(see below) must also return to Minambros.
In cases where the challenger is thier own offspring, the younger can maintain its parents on the plot. As such, in these situations the elder will abdicate after a theatrical fight to still appease the crowds of the capital. This has lead to some Pledged Lineages which will maintain a plot for multiple generations but none as established as the Familia Torocus who have kept the title within the family for 7 generations.
