History

Toro-folk were native to the wooded areas of the mainland before the Ionian city-states began conquests for expanding farmland. When Janus began the Ionian Campaigns, the once common race had dwindled to small enclaves in remote valleys of the region.

During the Final Ionian campaign, the Legate Minos saw both a political and military opportunity in the surviving Tauren. In exchange for devoting all Toro warriors to establish what would come to be known as the Minotaur Legion, Minos would allow the Toro to establish a new homeland on the Isle of Mornasia, his own ancestral estate. The prestigious Legion would become legendary and has been active on every major campaign of Janus since.

Over the centuries the vast conscription and high casualties have dwindled the Toro Population (colloquially known as minotaur). The past decades of heavy losses of Janusian territory and forces has lead to draconian laws of conscription and settlement on Mornasia, now called Isle of Morn by the Minotaur.

By edict, all adult male Minotaur are conscripted to the Minotaur Legion, and must report to Minambros at the last moon of spring of their 16th year. Female Minotaur are forbidden to leave the Isle with the exception of mates to members of the Pledged Guard.
