Castle Kilgrave

Castle Kilgrave rises from the hills like the skeleton of a giant, its pale bleached stone catching the light of dawn in cold silence. Sections of the walls are scorched black where wild magic has kissed the stone, crackling with faint lines of green and blue that dance like veins beneath the surface. Strange winds coil around its towers, carrying whispers that sound like prayer one moment and curses the next, and every footstep closer feels like stepping into a place caught between worlds. The air tastes of iron and something sharp, the residue of old spellfire and chaos that clings to the ruin long after the gods themselves bled upon its soil. Even the ground surrounding Kilgrave is littered with jagged thorns that seem to creep closer in the night, fed by the restless magic that drifts from the shattered halls above.”

Perched on a lonely rise overlooking the rolling hills near Arabel, Castle Kilgrave is a brooding fortress of dark stone, its towers twisted and scorched from past sieges and ill-kept repairs. Once the proud seat of House Kilgrave, the castle fell into ruin after treachery and magical catastrophe tore the family apart, leaving its halls cold and silent, echoing with the cries of restless spirits.
The god Bane, one of the dead three, took Kilgrave and renamed it New Acheron, planning to use it to launch a plan of conquest across Faerun. However,

However, not all the gods were so willing to learn and all of them tried to regain their divine power as quickly as possible. Bane was among these deities, but unfortunately for him he was slain by the young god Torm on Eleasias 13, 1358 DR.
During the Time of Troubles, a Celestial Stairway appeared near Castle Kilgrave, reaching into the heavens above Cormyr. Here, Helm, the Vigilant One, stood watch over the Stairway, barring the gods from returning to their realms. It was upon this Stairway that Helm struck down Mystra as she attempted to ascend, ending her mortal life and sending ripples of chaos and grief across Faerun. The echoes of that divine death still haunt the skies above Kilgrave, where storms heavy with wild magic sometimes crackle in the night.
In the chaos that followed, priests of Helm hid the Guardian's Tear within Castle Kilgrave. This crystalline relic, rumoured to hold a fragment of Mystra’s fading essence or the last prayer of her faithful, was meant to stabilise the Weave and protect the land from the chaos unleashed by her death. Yet with the fall of House Kilgrave and the slow decay of the keep, the Guardian’s Tear was discovered and taken by the Cult of Malyk.
Now the cult has claimed the ruin as its sanctuary, using the Guardian's Tear as a focus for their chaotic rites in Malyk’s name. Strange sigils burn across the cracked walls, and flickers of spellfire crackle around the towers as the cult seeks to twist the relic’s stabilising magic into a conduit for chaos. The air around Castle Kilgrave shimmers with wild magic, a sign of Malyk's fickle blessing or curse upon those who dwell within.
