Old Naurcia
Once a large island off the coast of eastern Arros, it was the home of the Ancient Naurcians, a group of people who's descendents now occupy large parts of eastern and southern Arros.
Geography
Old Naurcia was a large island, possibly bigger than both Haiska or Velcaan. The island's topography was mountainous with deep valleys between large rows of mountains. The southern half of the island was flatter than the north, and had the most amount of arable land, as well as a large river network.
Climate
The island's climate was midler than on the nearby continent, as the ocean around it prevented temperatures from climbing too high in the summers, or falling too low in the winters. All in all, Old Naurcia had long hot summers, and short wet winters. Snow was common in the mountains of the north during winters, while tropical cyclones hit the island's eastern and southern coasts during late spring and Summer.Localized Phenomena
The island was absolutely filled with volcanos, some of which erupted with regular frequency. As a result, the island also experienced frequent earthquakes, especialy in the north, where most volcanos were clustered. While this did bring bouts of destruction to the island, and would be the cause of the island's dissapearance, the volcanos did contribute to the Old Naurcian's prosperacy, as the regular but relatively small ash deposites make the land very fertile.
Fauna & Flora
Old Naurcia had many of the same flora and fauna as what can be currently found on mainland Arros, with major differences steming from human introduction of foreign species into the island, and later, onto the mainland. Horse and raccoons were originaly from The Eastern Continent, but were brought to Arros via trade between Old Naurcia and a mysterious empire in the east, who they named Atilia, as were a variety of plants and crops, such as potatos and tomatos.
Natural Resources
The island was rich in various metal ores, and contained nunerous copper, silver and iron mines, with some smaller amount of gold and tin. Its valleys were fertile and thickly wooded, providing ample timber for the settlers, at least until the forests on the island were depleted towards the end of the First Age.
History
Unfortunatly, because of the island's sinking early during The Long Winter, little is known of its history, say for the stories modern Naurcian recount to every new generations, and the scatered ruins of their past colonies that dot the coastline of nearby land.
According to Naurcian retellings, the story goes as follows: the island was settled by two dozen ships that came from a land across the sea. (What sea that might be is never specified) The sailors found the island's land rich and fertile, and the waters around it rich in fish. As a result, they quicky decided to established their new homes on the island's coast.
Centuries past, and the people began to scatter across the island, founding cities after cities. However, after about 500 years, the island began to feel cramped by the naurcian's booming population. Soon, boats were rebuilt, and the bravest on the island set sail to the west, north and south, seeking new land.
It didn't take long for them to find the coast of mainland Arros, which they called "Nouvelle Naurcie" or New Naurcia, as well as the Vechor Islands, which they called "Iles du vent" or Windy isles. While both regions were less apealing than their home island; Mainland Arros was colder, its land less fertile, and occupied by who they called (barbarians), and the Vechor island were small and relatively bare, compared to Old Naurcia, they nonetheless settled there, and founded colonies, mainly along the coast and at the mouth of rivers.
Meanwhile, back on the island, the people there began trading with Atilia, the mythical First Age empire of the eastern continent, and this trade brought quite the bounty for them. Horses were introduced to the island, and then mainland Arros, as were a bunch of crops, like potatos and tomato. This would boost the island's population and lead to more colonies in mainland Arros.
However, by this point, the First Age was coming an end, and so too was the island's remaining time before it sunk. A few months after the Long winter had begun around the world, things started to go down hill fast. The first earthquakes weren't too bad, but people didn't have time to clean up and attempt to repair, as subsequent quakes would hit in quick succession, destroying all infrastructure on the island in a matter of days.
Then, the volcanos erupted. all of them, one by one. The island itself started to break appart, and in about a week after the first eruptions, and barely a month after the earthquakes started, the island was gone, having sunk beneath the waves of The Great Eastern Ocean. Tsunami waves surged from where the island once stood, and rushed towards the Vechor islands and the coast of mainland Arros, washing over many of the large colonial cities there, and many would sink permanantly under the ocean as a result.

Where are the Naurcians now?
Kingdom of Naurcia
While it would be tempting for scholars to look at a map of Arros and point to the Kingdom of Naurcia and say "They're there!", they know better, as it is clear that the Old Naurcian were quite dispered even at the time, making things a bit more complicated. Firstly, while it is true that the Kingdom of Naurcia was founded by ancestors of Old Naurcia, their ethnic makup isn't purely from Old Naurcia. In fact, them and Heorian (the people their ancestors called barbarians), have intermingled a lot, especialy in western Naurcia.
Vechor Island
However, Old Naurcians also settled the Vechor Islands, and these human inhabitants were still there when the Dragonkins arrived, meaning that the current population of the islands is partly descendent of Old Naurcia as well.
Hazian city-states
Finaly, some scholars have theorised that the Hazians from the island of harath, and who founded numerous city-states in southern Arros, including Vrahlis and Carathenga, could also be descendants of Old Naurcia, due to their relatively similar language and ancient pagan religion, physical appearance, and the fact that they began expanding just after Old Naurcia sunk. Hazians themselves do claim Naurcian ancestry, especialy the noble class, but it seems mainly be to give themselves an aura of exclusivity, as opposed to any kind of cultural memory.
