The Eastern Continent
The Eastern Continent is a fabled land that is said to lay across The Great Eastern Ocean, to the east of the Continent of Arros and the Continent of Mahador.
Geography
While geographic knowledge of the continent is greatly limited, some information can be extrapolated from what we know of other regions. First, we know that the Continent of Osian is physicaly connected to the eastern continent, and is in fact located beyond the impenetrable Haendanyh Mountains. Two, it is known that a large, if not most of the continent's land is located in the western Hemisphere. Third, the land was once composed of fertile plains and large forests, akin to Arros, but it is now seemingly desolate, with any sign of life being corrupted and morphed into grotesque forms.
Climate
Very little is known of the climate of the Eastern Continent, but it can be presumed to be largely temperate, with colder winters in the north, and hot and humid summer in the south.Old Naurcia map.png

A First Age map of Old Naurcia, showing the now disappeared island of Naurcia in the centre, the eastern parts of the continent of Arros on the left, and the Eastern continent on the right, named Atilia. Numerous settlements are labeled, most notably the Naurcian colonies in Arros and the Vechor islands.
Ecosystem
The eastern continent seemed to have been a rather fertile land, with many unique crops that the Atilians traded with the Ancient Naurcians, and that thus, were brought to the Arrosian Continent. These crops include corn, potatoes, tomatoes and even quinoa, which have all become quite popular in the region.
History
The first historical mention we have of the Eastern Continent and their people comes from a journal, found preserved in a ruin near the City of Arlevent, in the Kingdom of Naurcia. The journal, which is estimated to have been written around 1800 bc, describes various things about foreigners, such as the fact that they came from a country called Atillia.
These "Atilians" desribed their country as rich and vast empire, which stretches half-way across the world, stopped only by mountain and sea. While the mention of the name "Atilia" is rather intriguing considering the number of mentions this name gets in First Age records of Osian country, the journal scarcely mentions any details concerning the geography of the people inhabited the continent, say for the Atilians.
As for the empire itself, we know it existed in some form during the later years of the First Age, and possibly much sooner than that. This is thanks to numerous Njadi, Taonese and even Kharthian Historical that mention them. Thus, some scholars have theorised these traders that appeared in Old Naurcia, were those same Atilians, exploring the sea and seeking new riches.
Unfortunatly, the arrival of the The Long Winter marks the end of known history from the region. It is presumed that the meteor that brought about the long winter may have crashed somewhere on the eastern continent -Taonese accounts of the event indicates as such- and wiped out the Atilians civilisation.
During the early and middle periods of the Second Age, arrosian ships would sail far into the Great Eastern Sea, not only for the large schools of fish found here, but also as an attempt to find clues about that mysterious landmass. Soon however, many of those ships stopped coming back, and rumours of large Sea monsters, called Leviathans inhabiting the deeper waters of the Great Eastern Ocean stopped any from venturing out.
In the Continent of Osian, before the mountain passes were sealed, numerous Taonese emperor would send expeditions to and beyond the Haendanyh Mountains. Some of those expeditions expeditions counted tens of thousands of men, with enough provision to last for years, but very few of them ever returned.
The ones that did were deeply traumatised, batered and emaciated, rambling incoherantly about darkened lands, massive ruined cities, and large and deadly shadow demon, which earned the land beyond the mountain the name of "Shadow lands". With the mountains passes having been sealed centuries ago, no one's been allowed, or willing, to travel to the region.
